Top jewelry trends from Fashion Week

Jewelry at fashion weeks this season is all about the ’80s and ’90s.

At Versace, gold bling was front and center. In a heavily ’80s inspired collection of plaid and leather skirts, tops, and boxy jackets, Versace branded gold coins with its iconic Medusa logo and reworked them as earrings and choker necklaces. They were layered and styled with the collection’s mix of plaid dresses and logo tees to convey a sense of overt glamour, opulence and luxury — an aesthetic the Versace fashion house is very familiar with.

However, there was also a retreat back towards ’90s minimalism, a style popularized at the time by designers like Calvin Klein, Martin Margiela, and Jil Sander. This year, brands like Tory Burch, Roksanda, Fendi, and Cushnie et Ochs styled their runway looks with simple, minimalist jewelry in gold and silver metals: Organic shape pendants hung from long chain necklaces, hoop earrings dangled on models’ ears, and paper-thin rings were stacked on their fingers.

This fashion week season also saw the return of the monocle earring, a style we saw dominate the market last year, back again at Prabal Gurung and 3.1 Phillip Lim.

Whether you prefer delicate, feminine jewelry, or fierce, bold jewels, this season will let you take your pick.
