9 Things to Know About Vanessa Trump

Today, Donald Trump Jr.'s 40-year-old wife, Vanessa, filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court. Page Six had reported earlier this week that the couple has been "living separate lives" and could be heading for a split. Here's what you need to know about the previously under-the-radar member of the Trump family.

The 27-year-olds wed in front of about 370 guests at Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach. Vanessa wore a dress she designed that was executed by Reem Acra, according to People, and Donald Trump's sister, Judge Maryanne Trump Barry of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, officiated. The couple headed to Fiji and Mexico for their honeymoon.

She grew up in a townhouse in New York City.

Vanessa attended the Dwight School on the Upper West Side, where she was a "tennis star." After Dwight, she studied psychology at Marymount College in Manhattan. Her mother, Bonnie Haydon, ran the Kay Models agency, and her late father, Charles Haydon, was a lawyer.

When she was 20, she was reportedly "seen nuzzling Leo" at a premiere party for the film Two Girls and a Guy.

But it wasn't the smoothest meeting. Trump reportedly introduced the couple twice in the course of about five minutes, and when they ran into each other at a birthday party six weeks later, Vanessa told the International Herald Tribune she blurted out, you're "the one with the retarded dad!"

Trump reportedly received a Bailey, Banks & Biddle ring for free in exchange for publicity that included a photo op at the jeweler's Short Hills Mall store. "Trump Jr. Is the Cheapest Gazillionaire-Heirhead Proposes with Free 100G Ring," the New York Post declared. It might have been too audacious even for Donald Trump himself. "You have a name that is hot as a pistol, you have to be very careful with things like this," he said when he was asked about the arrangement on CNN's Larry King Live.

She had a handbag line called La Poshett.

It's now defunct.

She and Donald Trump Jr. now have five children.

They have three boys and two girls together (from oldest to youngest): Kai, Donald Trump III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe. "I'm a Mother of 5 amazing kids," Vanessa's Twitter bio reads. "My children are my life!"

She was hospitalized in February after opening a suspicious letter addressed to her husband that contained white powder.

It was a hoax-the powder turned out to be cornstarch-and a 25-year-old Massachusetts man was later charged with "making hoax threats and mailing threatening communications" to Trump and four other victims.
