9 Reasons You Should Be Watching HGTV's "Home Town"
If you're an avid HGTV watcher, you've probably heard about new show Home Town that premieres Tuesday, March 21 at 10 p.m. right after Fixer Upper. The one-hour series will follow Laurel, Mississippi, residents Erin and Ben Napier as they fix up a house in their hometown. Here are 10 reasons we will definitely be tuning in:
1. The couple was mentored by Chip and Joanna Gaines.
We know what you're thinking: The combination of a couple fixing up an old home for a client to revive their hometown sounds all too familiar. That's why it's fitting that the Gaines have been there for Erin and Ben at every step in their journey to our TV screens. On visiting the Gaines family in Waco, Erin said, "we talked a lot about how fortunate we all feel, even though Ben and I are still nobodies with just the hope of helping save our town."
2. Erin and Ben have a sweet relationship.
Chip and Joanna, we love you, but it might be time to welcome a new favorite couple into our lives. All Fixer Upper fans will enjoy learning about the sweet dynamic between Erin and Ben.
3. TV executives discovered the couple on Instagram.
After Southern Weddings posted photos of the couple's house, an executive named Lindsey started following Erin on Instagram. The next month, Erin received an email asking if she'd be interested in being on TV. "We thought we were just documenting our newlywed life, but they saw the story of young people going home and doing their best to make a difference in their small Southern hometown," explained Erin to Hooked on Houses.
4. You'll fall in love with Laurel!
"Something about our little town gave [Lindsey] a gut feeling that she needed to reach out, that something was here for her, and something about our small town life could make people all across the country nostalgic for a place they've never even been," wrote Erin on her blog.
5. They're preserving small town culture.
According to The University of Mississippi News, Ben is hoping to encourage young families to settle down in small towns. "When you live in a small town, you can make a difference," he said. "It's affordable. You can travel if you want to see the world, but the small towns are important. That's where most people's lives begin."

A quick scroll through Erin's Instagram reveals her ability to balance modern design with touches of historic character.
7. The show is about so much more than just renovation.
"It's a renovation show on paper, but it's a show about finding your place in a small town at its heart," explained Erin to Hooked on Houses.
8. "Home Town" has the same producers as the first two seasons of "Fixer Upper."
To convince the producers to get on board, Erin and Ben made the above video to show off what their small town is all about. Residents also helped put together a care package of letters and gifts for the producers.
9. Everything you'll see on camera is real.
As any Fixer Upper fan knows, Chip and Joanna are often taken aside for interviews to explain their latest project. Erin told Hooked on Houses that these are called "on the fly" interviews where they're asked to answer questions on the spot.
