Fall is here and Fox’s hit drama 9-1-1 is officially back in action with season 5. But now, fans are wondering if and when the Austin-based spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star will return with a new season. Luckily, actor Ronen Rubinstein, who portrays Tyler Kennedy "TK" Strand, has confirmed it's currently in the works.

Months after actress Gina Torres announced that 9-1-1: Lone Star was renewed for season 3, Ronen gave folks an exciting update on Instagram. On September 7, he shared the cover of the script for the first episode of the new season. According to the black-and-white picture, 9-1-1: Lone Star’s season 3 premiere episode will be titled “The Big Chill.”

“EPISODE 1 ,” Ronen captioned the post.

Though Ronen stopped short of spilling more details about what the premiere episode will be about, fans were ecstatic after seeing hard-copy proof that his character's storyline is continuing. “Omg I’m so excited!!! 🤩,” one person wrote. “FINALLY!” another added. “CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU TO BE BACK ON MY SCREEN,” a different person said. “Is it January already?!? 🙃 I can’t wait for s3 ❤️,” a follower commented.

Looking closer at the script, the season 3 premiere will be directed by Bradley Buecker, the same creative behind American Horror Story. According to 9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner Tim Minear, Bradley is a great person for the job. “He has directed a lot of our big episodes, and he really knows how to go out there and just get it done,” Tim told TVLine.

All of that said, fans couldn't help but begin guessing what the first episode will entail. Given that the show is set in Austin and the title alludes to the weather, many are thinking the Texas deep freeze, which happened this past February, will be portrayed in some way.

What's more, Ronen has also shared that the third installment is “now filming,” per his Instagram and Twitter bios. “I have no idea what’s going to happening or when or what or how. But it’s happening and that’s all that matters,” he said in an Instagram video celebrating the renewal news earlier this spring.

As for when season 3 of 9-1-1: Lone Star will premiere, fans still have to be a little more patient. Unlike 9-1-1, which recently came back as part of Fox’s fall lineup, Lone Star will premiere in January 2022. The plan is for 9-1-1 to go on a hiatus at the start of the New Year while Lone Star airs new episodes. After that, the two will likely begin airing back to back on Monday nights.

Until then, we’ll just keep an eye out for more updates from Ronen!
