The feel-good storyline, the elaborately decorated sorority house, the over-the-top pink costumes (sooooo many pink ’fits), there’s nothing quite like Legally Blonde. The 2001 romantic comedy, which stars Hollywood greats like Reese Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Jennifer Coolidge, and Selma Blair, was a cultural phenomenon. In fact, it did so well at the box office that it got a sequel, a spin-off, a Broadway musical, and a couple of awards too.

Even if you’re a part of the Legally Blonde cult following (hi, I’ve been a member for 13 years, tyvm), I bet you didn’t know these behind-the-scenes facts. Like, the other actors who were almost cast as Elle instead of Reese or the unbelievable number of hairstyles Reese Witherspoon wore in the movie. Luke Wilson and Reese Witherspoon had to wear wigs for the ending scene.

If you noticed Luke Wilson and Reese Witherspoon’s hair looks a tad different at the movie’s end, you’re not imagining it. After they wrapped, the Legally Blonde cast was called back to reshoot the end scene. The only problem? Luke and Reese had chopped their locks in preparation for their next role. So the two donned some wigs and called it a day.

This iconic part almost wasn’t in the movie.

Do you remember that famous “bend-and-snap” scene with Jennifer Coolidge? Well, it almost didn’t happen. *gasp* We almost didn’t get this cultural phenomenon, but thankfully, the producers and writers added it at the last minute. Fun fact: The scene came to fruition while the producers and writers were at an L.A. bar.

It almost got a different ending.

After audience testing the original ending and receiving negative feedback, the producers decided to redo it. What was the original ending? We might never know, but who cares? The current end—Elle graduating law school while a proud Emmett looks on—is the *only* acceptable way to close out this story.
