This $7 Target Candle Is Flying Off Shelves Because Fans Think It Smells Like Harry Styles

Target's ability to offer high-quality products at affordable prices is just one of the many reasons we love the budget retailer. Earlier this year, shoppers claimed that the "Citrus Grove" scent from Target's exclusive cleaning line "Smartly" smelled like one of Anthropologie's top-selling candles. As a result, the $0.79 dish soap and $1.79 all-purpose cleaner sold out — but have since returned to shelves. Since then, the Internet has become fixated on another Tar-jay original product: a $7 vanilla candle that has been said to smell just like...pop singer Harry Styles.

While Styles may have just dropped the music video today for "Watermelon Sugar"—which involved a lot of close contact between him and a group of friends, as in, close enough to get a whiff of each other—that's not how word got out about what Styles actually smells like. Back in 2017, Vogue UK got a glimpse of the long-haired crooner’s dressing room table, where his makeup artist, Lou Teasdale, shared Styles's favorite products. One of his faves happened to be the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum, touted by Ford himself as an "all man" cologne reminiscent of an English Gentleman’s Club. A bottle of this warm, oaky fragrance costs a pretty penny at about about $150 — affordable for Styles, but not so much his younger, fan base. However, last month, TikTok users started posting about a product similar to the sweet cocoa and tobacco blend that Styles fancies— and it's less than $10.

According to stans of Styles, Target's Threshold's Cashmere Vanilla scent is similar in smell to Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. This particular scent is offered in three products: a six-ounce tin candle ($7), an eight-and-a-half ounce glass jar candle ($10), and an oil diffuser ($10). Right now, it looks like the glass jar candle is out of stock, but you can still snag the tin candle and the oil diffuser.

Overall, most users seemed pleased by the scent, according to TikTok reviews. In fact, it has actually been unofficially dubbed as the "Harry Styles Candle"— even Target agrees. When a shopper took to Twitter to share how her "Harry Styles candle" was only burning from the center, Target's customer service responded to her, also referring to the product as the "Harry Styles candle." But don't let her dilemma discourage you from the candle; most users say the quality is great. One even chimed in on the thread: "There is nothing wrong with the candle it’s just we can’t find it anywhere in any Target stores, we need more please."
