At 64, Andie MacDowell Says She’s ‘Glamorous More Now’ Than She’s Ever Been

Andie MacDowell, 64, recently shared her experience walking the runway for Paris Fashion Week.
The star said she’s grateful to represent and empower older women.
“I enjoy being glamorous more now than I ever have,” she said.
Only a short while ago Andie MacDowell, 64, rocked gray locks and a high-slit gown while strutting down the Paris Fashion Week catwalk. Now, the Maid star is ready to talk about the experience. She opened up about her “#Gratitude” for the opportunity to embrace her age and create visibility for older women in her latest Instagram post.
The post consisted of a series of gorgeous photos, one more vibrant than the next. “Extremely grateful to have the honor to wear this gorgeous dress that was made for the Paris opera,” she captioned the post. “Always an honor to represent women of a certain age in a way that pushes the boundaries and shouts out we deserve to be included, starred, and loved. I enjoy being glamorous more now than I ever have.”
MacDowell has long been vocal about aging, noting that’s important for women to realize you can look beautiful and feel good at any age. She continued the post: “My favorite part was the love and affection that I felt from the other actresses and models,” she continued. “I cannot thank them enough for their support, applause, hoots, hollering and encouragement ♥️💋I love them all!”
This isn’t the first time MacDowell has spoken up about getting older. “We evolve and we age, and this is part of the process,” she once said in an interview for NPR’s Fresh Air. “Aging is not about losing your beauty.”
“I think aging is something that you either have to decide that you like it or you don’t. It’s a choice,” she continued in the interview. “I like that people are comfortable with me getting older. I think that's an important message for all of us that we get older and we are beautiful.”
The Crush actress clearly has a point—she maintains that going gray is badass, and proves it time and time again, whether she’s walking down the runway or stealing the spotlight on the red carpet. In an Instagram post last year, MacDowell explained that her gray strands began to come in during initial COVID-19 quarantines, and wrote: “I went natural and embraced my true color. I want to be proud of where I am in my life! I don’t want to be ashamed of my age.”
We love seeing her not only embrace her age but reminding women everywhere that aging is beautiful, too.
