A 59-Year-Old Man Has Tragically Died After Surfing Byron Bay

Tragic news out of Australia.

A 59-year-old man was surfing at Main Beach in Byron Bay where he was found unconscious in the water and later died at a local hospital, according to reports.

It is believed he was surfing at The Wreck when the incident took place yesterday, Monday, March 11, at around 9:30 a.m.

Lismore City News captioned the post above:

"Tragically, a man has died after a surfing incident at Byron Bay."

According to the story, other beachgoers noticed the man in trouble and alerted lifeguards of the surfer in distress.

He was pulled unconscious from the water and rushed to Lismore Base Hospital in a critical condition where he later passed away.

"Surf Life Savers and New South Wales Ambulance paramedics rendered assistance to a man who was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a critical condition," Lismore News reported.
