A single woman who moved to the UK from Australia has made it her mission to go on 50 first dates in a bid to find a partner.

Hannah Zaslawski moved to Hackney in London from Sydney, Australia last year as she’s always wanted to live in the UK.

The 30-year-old, who dates both men and women, has so far been on 16 first dates that have included visits to pubs, museums, and galleries.

“It started as something fun to do – purely to give my friends back home an update on my dating life,” says Zaslawski, who works in a local cafe.

“I had been talking about doing 50 first dates for a while and my friend encouraged me to go for it. It's been fun, and so far everyone has been lovely. Even if a date hasn't gone that well, everyone has been a nice person who I've had a good time with.

“It’s encouraged me to not hold onto things too long – if I have a great date but it doesn’t go anywhere, I can just put it down to a great date and move on.”

Zaslawski meets her dates on dating websites, social media, and in person, and posts “reviews” of the dates to her TikTok page after each one.

She now has over 50,000 followers on the app and her videos have been liked over 900,000 times, with some receiving close to a million views.

Each video describes how the date went and her feelings following the date. For date 15, Zaslawski describes going out for a drink with a guy, going to a club, and then staying up and chatting until 6am.

“I can honestly say that’s the best date that I have ever been on,” she says to her followers in the video, with the next video explaining that her date later ghosted her.

Depending on her work schedule, Zaslawski can go on up to two dates per week, but she hasn't set a time frame to complete the full 50.

“To be honest, hopefully I don't reach 50,” she admits. “If I reach 50, I'm probably the red flag at that point.”

She adds that going on 50 first dates has not only helped her to meet people, but upped her confidence.

“At the end of the day, you're the person you wake up with,” she continues. “Going on lots of dates is good because you're focused on yourself and don’t get caught up on one person – it teaches you that you don’t have to settle.

“Dates can be really scary. I'm pretty extroverted but I've had a few people reach out to say it's encouraged them and makes dating seem less scary.

"The main thing is to be confident in yourself and remember you're the prize. It's not about impressing them – it's about getting to know one another and having a good time."
