I don't like to switch up my jewelry very often (I can go months and even years wearing the same exact pieces every day), so it’s pretty telling when I do decide to either adopt a new item, retire a trend, or do both at the same time. Spoiler alert: Such is the case with the 10 categories you’re about to see below. Five are ones I realized I hardly wear anymore, while the other five have managed to sneak into my day-to-day outfits more often than not. While none are that out-there to begin with (since I do have admittedly simple style), these little changes have made me feel just a bit more, well, current. To see which ones I’m putting on the back burner and shop what’s in my rotation instead, simply keep scrolling.
Hardly Wear: Thin Layered Necklaces
Instead Wear: Statement Chains
While I haven’t totally retired my (extensive) collection of layering necklaces just yet, I’ve definitely found myself opting for a chunky chain or two more often these days.
Missoma x Lucy Williams Gold T Bar Chunky Chain Necklace ($382)
Monica Vinader Alta Capture Necklace ($650)
Brinker & Eliza Sailor's Necklace ($198)
Sequin Figaro Link Choker Necklace ($68)
Hardly Wear: Shells
Instead Wear: Pearls
I'll probably be singing a different tune come summer, but for now, my shell necklaces, earrings, and bracelets aren't getting much action, while my pearl pieces somehow still feel as fresh as ever.
Éliou Gold-Tone Bead and Pearl Necklace ($450)
Shashi Jasmin Earrings ($54)
Poppy Finch Gold, Pearl and Ruby Ring ($295)
& Other Stories Pearl Pendant Chain Bracelet ($25)
Hardly Wear: Cuff Bracelets
Instead Wear: Delicate Bracelets
At this point, I don’t think I even own any big cuff bracelets anymore, which is a good thing because the only bracelet styles I’m interested in at the moment are delicate. Think thin chains, tennis bracelets, charm bracelets, and more.
Laura Lombardi Gold Plated Curb Chain Bracelet ($68)
Anita Ko 18-Karat Rose Gold Diamond Bracelet ($4800)
Kenneth Jay Lane Round CZ Tennis Bracelet ($98)
The Last Line Diamond Solitaire Chain Bracelet ($650)
Hardly Wear: Stacking Rings
Instead Wear: Chunky Gold Rings
I always found stacking rings a bit difficult and uncomfortable, so it’s convenient that for the time being, I’m more into bigger, single rings anyway. Whether it's just one or one on each finger, the look is all over my feed right now and, as a result, very much on my mind.
Mejuri Bold Chain Ring ($215)
Soko Square Signet Pinky Ring ($58)
Alighieri The Infernal Stone Gold-Plated Ring ($225)
Jenny Bird Dee Signet Ring ($75)
Hardly Wear: Colorful Jewelry
Instead Wear: Metals and Neutrals
Colorful jewelry is another trend I definitely won’t be getting rid of, but it’s definitely on the back burner for now. Instead, as seen above, I’m opting for metals (mainly gold and silver) and neutrals, such as pearls.
Cartier Tank Française Watch ($3250)
Leandra x Mango Pearl Pendant Earrings ($26)
Vrai Baguette Diamond Bezel Bracelet ($260)
EF Collection 14k Diamond Baguette Signet Ring ($695)
