5 Design Trends to Watch at the Upcoming Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach
The unveiling of the 2023 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach is right around the corner, and the design community is eagerly anticipating its descent upon the Sunshine State to discover the year’s hottest decorating trends. The team of 21 interior designers and landscape architects is currently transforming the 7,524-square-foot Italianate-style estate in West Palm Beach’s Northwood Shores neighborhood and has given VERANDA an exclusive first look.
While hot tropical hues dominated 2022’s Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Palm Beach, many designers on this year’s team are leaning into cooler colors like mint, lavender, sage, and powder blue for calming schemes in sitting areas, bedrooms, and outdoor living spaces. Quieter neutral palettes imbued with organic materials will also reign, from an all-white Gatsby-esque loggia to an intimate cocktail lounge layered with rush accents and patinaed wooden furnishings.
This year, the sixth-annual show house announced its first-ever waterfront locale, with sweeping views of the intracoastal waterway. As such, South Florida’s scenic natural beauty will serve as inspiration for the home’s six bedrooms.
However, last year’s vibrant palm motifs have been replaced by softer floral patterns in elegant wallcoverings, enveloping the serene spaces with garden grandeur. While touring the bedrooms, look up to find artful applications of treillage traversing ceilings, which will further immerse visitors into these Eden-inspired worlds. Jewel box-like beds will also command center stage. Some of the imaginative designs include a green cabana-inspired bed, an embroidered velvet headboard, and an LED-lit bed frame clad in marble.
In addition to celebrating top design talent, the event also benefits the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Clubs and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. The show house opens its doors for in-person and virtual tours on February 24, 2023 (you can purchase tickets here).
