CAMILA MCCONAUGHEY: Hey, guys. Welcome to our fourth of our five-day sugar detox challenge. So far, you have committed. Have ditched artificial and sneaky sugars. Today, we're going to talk about fruits.
When we talk about fruits and sugar, fruit has sugar in it. It is a natural form of sugar. And when you are eating a whole fruit, not juice, you're also getting the fiber and you're getting all the nutrients that help your body process the natural sugar in the way that it should.
Fruit and sugar detox, it's a bit of a controversial topic. You have to do what works for you. If you are a person that has a personality going cold turkey and you can go without fruits, without no sugars at all, great, go for it.
Now, for me, personally, I need to slowly make that transition. Because that way, I can do it for longer. So I still do a little bit of fruit, but I try to stay away from the high-sugar fruits. Not all fruits are created equal, guys.
My favorite ways to have fruit during a sugar detox challenge is to do sliced apples with peanut butter, blueberries, blackberries. Stay with the berry family. I feel much better when I have a whole orange, including the White part of the orange, guys. That's how we do it in Brazil. It's got a lot of nutrients right there. I like to do smoothies, but I do at protein powder to that, and I do add nut butters.
How much fruit you should have a day? Try to have it only when you're really craving, only when you really need it and have it with good fats. You have one more day to our five-day sugar detox challenge. Let's finish strong. I'll see you tomorrow.
