September is not just the start of fall but a leap into the future of fashion and beauty. As the calendar flips to Spring/Summer 2024, designers in the fashion capitals of New York, London, Milan and Paris take center stage, shaping the trends and setting the tone for the next upcoming season. It's a time of creativity, innovation and cultivating a vibrant fashion and beauty culture. With each beautifully crafted garment, we saw the mesmerizing visions that will storm the streets in the coming months.
New York Fashion Week has come to a close, with London up next, and we've already captured the pulsating energy of what the American girlies will be embracing for the spring. "Grungy Balletcore" made a notable statement with satin ribbons intricately woven throughout models' hair at the Collina Strada and Christian Siriano shows.
Meanwhile, the renowned makeup artist Sheika Daley curated the "Sheika Method" for LaQuan Smith's SS24 show, unveiling a captivating debut of "futuristic cat eyes" for the runway. For the avid skin enthusiasts, the mantra of "skin-first" continued to reign supreme during most of NYFW. It's clear that New Yorkers have a love for nurturing and pampering the skin.
Now that the glittery fashion dust is settling in New York, the Hypebae Beauty Team has meticulously curated the five hair and makeup trends that defined New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024.
"Futuristic Cat Eyes" aka The "Sheika Daley" Method
Sheika Daley wanted to ensure the sensual vision LaQuan Smith has for his SS24 collection translated to the glam. Daley curated the "Futuristic Cateye," a defined eyeliner look that was contoured to the individual eye shape of the model.Elevating the look further, the negative space that was left, the team added shimmer to the eyeliner, paying homage to the "'90s but with a 3000-year effect."
We predicted that "Fab Frizz" would be hot for Fall 2023; however, the hair God, Mustafa Yanaz, stylist for Phillip Lim's SS24, has spoken for us on the runway and said the look will follow us well into spring — and if you want the direct runway look, haircare brand Kevin Murphy's "Motion Lotion" and "Anti Gravity" spray has you covered.
Braided ballet buns, ribbons woven through purposely undone strands and more stood out for New York Fashion Week SS24.
According to Dion Lee's SS24 runway, "skin first" has transported to the year 3023, and it's giving porcelain, china-doll skin that sweats nothing but glitter, radiance and sex.
Cafe Latte Eyes
We're still in our Latte Makeup era, and it will keep going well through spring. These terracotta, smoky hues transition well from fall to spring and are universal for a day or evening time look.
