The looks at the 2023 Met Gala, which honored late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, were equal parts sophisticated and sexy—two classic descriptors of Lagerfeld’s work. So, it was only fitting that Kerry Washington wore a black two-piece gown—a hand-beaded bandeau top and a matching form-fitted, high-waisted skirt—for the event that showed off her incredible abs. Washington paired the chic look with a diamond-embellished choker and a black blazer draped over her shoulders for her grand entrance.
The Little Fires Everywhere star, 46, shared her getting-ready process with the help of her glam team on Instagram, thanking Michael Kors for the elegant outfit. “Soooooooooo much LOVE 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 @michaelkors #MetGala,” she captioned the clip, in which she danced along to Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love.”
Fans and friends certainly felt love for the look. “Obsessed! 💓🔥💯,” one person commented. “A real-life mermaid 😍,” another added. “WOW,” someone else wrote.
In follow-up posts, Washington shared closeups of her pinned-back hair, glowing skin, and smokey eyes, as well as shots from her Met Gala entrance. According to People, she attended the event with her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, who rarely joins her for public appearances.
For afterparty festivities, Washington made an outfit change and shared a clip of her shift from glamorous ballroom attire to a more business-professional outfit of black trousers, a white beaded bandeau and matching cardigan, and a string of pearls.
Washington’s makeup artist, Carola Gonzalez, helped her achieve the sultry evening glam using mostly Neutrogena products, aside from her false lashes, which were Eylure London Luxe Cashmere No.6. “These lashes were perfect to complete her eye look. They really shaped the eyes in the most flattering way and really made them pop,” Gonzalez said in a release.
