4 Simple and Delicious Diet Tips That Could Improve Your Health

by Lisa Lozano

Dr. Travis Stork of The Doctors is stopping by to share some potentially life-changing tips about how eating certain foods could affect your health. He’s also sharing his food diary so that you can see what food choices he makes for himself!

No. 1: Eat Corn When You’re Craving Something Sweet

It’s natural to crave a little sweetness with your dinner. But rather than serving up cake or cookies for dessert, why not serve a little sweet corn at the table? Dr. Stork explains that whole kernel corn features resistant starch which stops your body from absorbing all of the sugar. As an added benefit, he suggests adding beans to the meal, which contain protein and fiber.

No. 2: Eat Fat with Your Veggies

Dr. Stork reveals something kind of mind-blowing – our bodies can’t readily absorb antioxidants without fat! So a veggie salad is actually healthier if you add a little olive oil to it. Who knew? “Fat doesn’t make people fat,” reiterates Dr. Stork.

No. 3: Pair Apples and Dark Chocolate for a Healthy Snack

Dr. Stork recommends pairing an antioxidant-packed dark chocolate (with 70% or higher cacao) with similarly antioxidant-rich apples.

No. 4: Help Reduce Your Cholesterol with Oats and Blueberries

Eating heart-healthy oatmeal with antioxidant-rich blueberries is an excellent option for those looking to reduce their cholesterol, Dr. Stork says.
