4 Body Parts That Age Faster Than Your Face

With all the promising youth creams and spa treatments available these days, it’s easy to keep your face looking fresh and youthful for longer. But while much of the focus for anti-aging is spent on crow’s feet, many people tend to forget other body parts age just as quickly, if not faster. According to NYC-based dermatologist Patricia Wexler, MD, of Wexler Dermatology, the four spots that tend to sneakily age without notice are the chest, lips, hands, and neck. Even the most skincare-conscious tends to miss these key areas, so here’s how to combat those pesky spots before it’s too late!

Chest Wrinkles

When you think of an example of aging skin, crow’s feet and forehead lines probably spring to mind. But your chest can develop deep lines as well. Similar to the delicate skin on your face, your décolletage is extremely vulnerable to damage, especially from the sun. So, load up on SPF 45 and above all 365 days of the year (yes, even in the winter!), and apply anti-aging moisturizers to the area to keep it hydrated and smooth.

Lined Lips

If you’ve already begun to notice tiny, vertical lines pop up above your upper lip, it’s time to start treating the area. If you’re a smoker, you’re breaking collagen every time you purse your lips to take a puff of a cigarette. Furthermore, if deep lines are becoming more apparent on the actual lips themselves, an anti-aging lip serum might be in order. Try a moisturizing product like the Clé de Peau Beauté Lip Serum ($95) to hydrate, plump, and contour your lips to their most youthful state.

Wrinkled Hands

Your hands are perpetually exposed to the elements, making them quicker to dry out and ultimately wrinkle. Start routinely slathering on a thick hand cream at night to keep hands hydrated and resistant to premature aging. If that’s not enough, use a hand mask like the Karuna Age-Defying Hand Mask ($9.50) to revitalize your hands.

Turkey Neck

Sagging skin under your chin and on your neck can happen at any age, and when it does, it seems to happen slowly at first, and then all at once. To combat this, Wexler recommends using topical treatments that contain peptides and retinol to help boost collagen production. Try StriVectin- TL Tightening Lift Advanced Neck Cream ($95) to help tighten skin and tone the area.
