We asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us about TV couples they loved despite their obvious faults and relationship red flags. The answers didn't disappoint! Here are just a few of the responses:
1. Callie Jacob and Brandon Foster — The Fosters "I love them! They didn't grow up together and technically they aren't related, so I don't know why people hated them together. I think the whole idea that it's 'incest' is ridiculous. They met as teenagers and liked each other instantly." — klzimm88
Freeform 2. Blair Waldorf and Dan Humphrey — Gossip Girl "They are literally the only two characters in the show that I ever loved together. Their relationship was so amazing (in my eyes) and it's interesting to see that people didn't feel the same way." — Ericafp23
The CW 3. Maxine Shaw and Kyle Barker — Living Single "They had such a love/hate relationship. They constantly baited and roasted each other, but it was definitely out of love."
—siobhans43277fded
Fox 4. Rue Bennett and Jules Vaughn — Euphoria "I know they’re a codependent mess, but their dynamic and chemistry is just too good to ignore. I need more of them!"
—olives456d18f9a
HBO 5. Beth Boland and Rio — Good Girls "Their chemistry is off the charts! I know it's super messed up, but I I'm still waiting to see what happens to them."
—crisscelisd
Jordin Althaus / NBC 6. Cameron Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett — Modern Family "They clearly have communication issues and are way too different from each other, but at the end of the day, it seems like they were made for each other!"
—sanamehnaz
Gilles Mingasson / Getty Images 7. Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence — Boy Meets World "I'm a huge BMW fan don't get me wrong, but Cory and Topanga are just kinda forced — not to mention, Cory is a toxic human being and Topanga is snotty. They were also just too young to be making such important life decisions regarding their relationship. They fought a lot, Cory was scared of Topanga, and Topanga controlled Cory all the time due to her 'maturity.' They were really problematic."
—mildlymichael
ABC Photo Archives / Getty Images 8. Ryan Howard and Kelly Kapoor — The Office "Both are awful human beings and they encourage toxic behaviors in each other, but they were way funnier than Jim and Pam."
—shortfatproudofthat
NBC 9. Peyton Sawyer and Lucas Scott — One Tree Hill "They were very on-again and off-again, which was unhealthy for both of them, especially with all of the cheating they did. However, 'Leyton' is endgame and they were the perfect blonde, broody couple." — mollball03
The CW 10. Mickey Milkovich and Ian Gallagher — Shameless "Gallavich stan all the way! Yes, they fight. Yes, they have their issues (both separately and together), but they truly love each other. They've proven that they can, and will, overcome ANYTHING (i.e. prison, homophobes, Ian's struggles with bipolar disorder, etc.). I love their private tender moments so much, and their wedding was so perfect and on brand for them!"
—katewalsh83
Showtime 11. Jade West and Beck Oliver — Victorious "Even though Beck didn't know how to communicate and Jade was incredibly jealous and projected her insecurities onto Beck, I was really bummed when they broke up."
—kaintsai
Nickelodeon 12. Jess Mariano and Rory Gilmore — Gilmore Girls "In the early seasons, he pressured her to have sex, which was not cool, but other than that, they shared so many cute moments together. You could easily pick up on their real-life chemistry."
—victoriagraceg
The CW 13. Ross Geller and Rachel Green — Friends "Everyone hates on Rachel for giving up her dream job in Paris to stay with Ross, but I can’t help but love them. The show teased at their on-again, off-again relationship for so long. They just worked well together — plus, it was best for Emma for them to stay together anyway."
—trapsterrr
Hulton Archive / Getty Images 14. Buffy Summers and Spike — Buffy the Vampire Slayer "SPUFFY! In Season 6, we can all attest that that relationship was UNHEALTHY, but MY GOD, the CHEMISTRY between them was just SO GOOD! By the end of Season 7, they really got their shit together and just had a really sweet relationship."
—williamthebloody
The WB 15. The Joker and Harley Quinn — Batman: The Animated Series "He was honestly just using her. He pushed her out a window and then gave her a rose during her recovery in Arkham, knowing it would easily win her over. So toxic, but they were cute together."
—conniebroderick
Fox Kids 16. Rebecca Bunch and Greg Serrano — Crazy Ex-Girlfriend "Greg and Rebecca from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, before they got therapy help and grew up. He was a closeted alcoholic and she wanted to be with someone else. He knew this upfront and still thought she sounded perfect. In reality, their love story was a shit show. I still think they are endgame, but I'm glad the show chose to make the ending about Rebecca, and not her love life." — zeilerra
The CW 17. Adam Groff and Eric Effiong — Sex Education "Adam was TERRIBLE to Eric for years. Then they began hanging out at night a couple times a week to talk and smash things. My brain wanted Eric to stay with Rahim. But fuck me, my heart shipped Adam and Eric so hard, despite them being a train wreck waiting to happen."
—musiicgeek
Netflix 18. Kara Zon-El and Mon-El — Supergirl "He was kind of annoying and she was kind of prejudice, but I thought they were really cute. In fact, they had so much chemistry that the actors who played them (Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood) are now married with a baby." — Mango12345
The CW 19. Carla Rosón Caleruega and Samuel García Domínguez — Élite "I hated them as a couple at first, because they seemed like such an odd pairing and they were really only using each other for their own gain; however, I found myself rooting for them in Season 3. I like how the writers teased us with their relationship."
—mo2758
Netflix 20. Piper Chapman and Alex Vause — Orange Is the New Black "Piper just keeps messing up with Alex. Alex doesn't really take anything seriously and is too controlling. They also carried around 'rat energy,' but every time I see them share their moments of rare happiness, I melt a little. The best little dumpster fire."
—nycehannah
Netflix 21. Cersei and Jaime Lannister — Game of Thrones "Despite them being siblings — yikes, I know...but I really don't understand my obsession with this particular couple, but it's there."
—radhikaanantha08
HBO 22. Olivia Pope and Jake Ballard — Scandal "Although they both had their issues, they also both wore their respective white hats at one point or another. Their chemistry was way better than Olivia and Fitz’s! I truly hoped they were endgame. Sigh."
—marlaine23
ABC 23. Maddy Perez and Nate Jacobs — Euphoria "Even though he is abusive and she lies and purposely does things that will upset him, they seem to have this chemistry that makes them kind of cute."
—giannav496e59556
Eddy Chen / HBO 24. Ryan Atwood and Marissa Cooper — The O.C. "Marissa was such a mess and Ryan had a savior complex, but I couldn't help but love their twist on the 'girl next door' love story."
—caitiekickpuncher
Fox 25. Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore — The Vampire Diaries "They were so toxic and there were so many red flags, but you can’t not love them! The things they did to each other sucked sometimes, but you know they love each other deep down. Plus, who can resist Damon’s eyes?"
—hiitsmelil
The CW 26. Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big — Sex and the City "He was so immature and terrible to her, but you couldn’t help feeling satisfied when they ended up together."
—koracarstairs
HBO 27. Robin Scherbatsky and Ted Mosby — How I Met Your Mother "They somehow end up together, after both of them achieved what they couldn't achieve together: kids, traveling, and jobs. They were slightly toxic, but the way their paths just kept crossing felt so reassuring. If something is meant to be, it will be."
—fredadekock
CBS 28. Phoebe Halliwell and Cole Turner — Charmed "They seemed so in love and perfect for each other, despite being actual arch enemies (he a demon, she a witch who fights demons). The actors had great chemistry."
—ovaltier
The WB 29. Aria Montgomery and Ezra Fitz — Pretty Little Liars "OK, I know it’s gross, but I loved Ezra and Aria when I was younger. I get it, she’s his student, and it’s kind of toxic, weird, and gross, but I always found myself rooting for them."
—lilluv_m
Freeform 30. Tristan Milligan and Miles Hollingsworth III — Degrassi: Next Class "The scenes where Tristan shames Miles for being bisexual were really toxic, and Miles cheated on Tristan while he was recovering from the bus accident...but even after all of that, I couldn’t help but root for them."
—howelle831
Netflix 31. Tate Langdon and Violet Harmom — American Horror Story: Murder House "There’s no denying their relationship was incredibly toxic, although I tend to believe the house influenced parts of that. I think Tate's true love for Violet was obvious, as well as her love for him. But overall, that does not excuse his behavior."
—elena897
FX 32. Adriana La Cerva and Christopher Moltisanti — The Sopranos "Even though he constantly abused and neglected her, she was always there for him. I always rooted for them. It was sad, because they were engaged for so long throughout the show and I was looking forward to their wedding, but we never got that because he had her whacked. I feel like she only snitched on him because she wanted a better life for them, but he chose the mob life over her." — mgs430
HBO 33. Quinn Perkins and Charlie — Scandal "They're the No. 1 toxic couple. I would not be surprised if someone else has already listed them on here. They had all the toxic traits in a relationship: lying, deceit, physical abuse, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, spitefulness, vindictiveness, torture, and the most toxic being murder. Name a couple that can top them?"
—steponme1986
ABC 34. Rumplestiltskin and Belle French — Once Upon a Time "Their characters suffered from the terrible writing of the show, but I could not stop shipping them no matter how problematic Rumple was. 'Sometimes the best cup is chipped.'"
—seasongal
ABC 35. George Michael Bluth and Maeby Fünke — Arrested Development "I always was kind of rooting for them. It was so wrong and ridiculous, since she was basically his cousin. There were times I definitely wanted to see them together...which probably says more about me, but still."
—yitzyzraven73
Fox 36. Meredith Grey and Derek Shephard — Grey's Anatomy "Their relationship started with Derek withholding some pretty important info. Then he chose another woman over her and slut-shamed her for the relationships she had after he gave up on her. Derek blamed Meredith for a lot of his own mistakes, but damn I’ll ship them for the rest of my life! When he proposed in the elevator with the X-rays from the cases they’ve worked on together...don’t talk to me!"
—jessicalucashinz
ABC 37. Dr. Spencer Reid and Cat Adams — Criminal Minds "They're obviously toxic, because she's an assassin and he's an FBI agent. They're constantly playing mind games with each other, but goddamn if their sexual tension and banter isn't amazing!"
—ghanson21
CBS 38. And finally, Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf — Gossip Girl "Chuck and Blair will always be the greatest. They're equally matched with their lifestyles and attitudes toward things like partying, sex, money, and power. Plus, they both had great character development from the first season to the last. And you can’t tell me the 'Three words, eight letters, say it and I’m yours' episode doesn’t make you root for them!"
