East Coasters are lucky to have the perpetually sunny Caribbean in close proximity, and the Bahamas, with so many quick direct flights, is one of the region's best and most convenient options. When Hurricane Dorian tore through earlier this year, many assumed it meant a temporary end to the islands' reliable leisure. But most of the Bahamas remains open for business, and travelers can help the affected areas recover more quickly by visiting. The island of Nassau, home to heavyweights like SLS and Rosewood at the resort complex Baha Mar, as well as Harbour Island, emerged relatively unscathed. Some hotels are even expanding, and newcomers are going ahead with openings.
