On In The Know’s The Wellness Lab, we bust common health myths and learn about the best products for keeping your health in tip top shape with our host, Dr. Alok Patel.

One common misconception is that you have to get protein from animal sources. But plants produce protein too. On this episode of The Wellness Lab, Dr. Patel shares why protein is important — and shares a few of his personal favorite plant-based protein sources.

“Plants are a good thing. They’re your friends. They’re great for digestion, helping your gut bacteria, heart health — for a lot of things,” he says. “Plants, aside from the wide variety of minerals and nutrients they have, also have more fiber [than animal sources], so they’ll keep you fuller longer.”

See Dr. Patel’s tips for getting enough protein from sources like pea protein powder, peanut butter and nutritional yeast in the video — and shop it all above.
