3 Pet Goats Found Wandering the Streets of Chicago

The animal control officer who found them had a field day!

Animal control officers normally respond to calls about dogs, cats, and wildlife, but one recent mishap gave some Chicago officers an unforgettable day. One lucky officer stumbled upon not one, not two, but three pet goats who were wandering around in the streets!

As much fun as that sounds, the animal care team was more concerned about getting the goats back home. It wasn't immediately clear where they came from, but Chicago Animal Care and Control wasted no time asking social media for help.

Just look at these goats! They're such beautiful animals, and they seem to be well accustomed to being around people. Clearly, their temporary caretakers enjoyed having them around!

The general public was very concerned about their well-being, too. Commenter Yazmin Stephanie wrote, "please make sure they go back to the right place and the right people because maybe they escaped a bad person or a bad situation. You never know." That could've been the case! Like she said--you never know.

Luckily, though, the goats' owner came forward very quickly. It turns out that they are pets! In fact, Chicago Animal Care and Control shared that each of these animals was hand-raised by their owner, who was driving around looking for the goats when they found out they were at the shelter. As for the animals--whose names are Billy, Baby, and Sunshine--a great escape didn't seem to faze them at all.

The goats' owner found out how they escaped and was able to make the proper repairs so it won't happen again. Still, it was special to see so many Chicagoans ready to step up and adopt the animals. Just like commenter June K. Imada said, "Hope the publicity from the goats helps other animals find their forever homes through you guys!" That would be a dream come true for so many pets!
