3,000 Flowers Turn This Train Into a Floral Paradise
We all know that public transportation can be, well, just a bit dull. Getting to and from one destination is hardly ever a glamorous endeavor-let alone an enjoyable one-on a subway or shuttle bus. But that's no longer the case, at least for a few lucky London travelers: the city's Heathrow Express is aiming to take its customers journey from drab to fab in celebration of the 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which begins today in the UK.
A sea of hydrangeas, lavender, wisteria, and more (3,000 of them, to be exact) bring this 43-seat train car to life. London-based florist Jamie Aston Flowers designed the spectacular installation, mixing real and artificial flowers together to create the final product.
“The duration of our transfer service is just 15 minutes, so we wanted to make an instant impression on customers departing from and arriving in the UK," a spokesperson for Heathrow Express said of the train. "The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the biggest events of the year but not everyone gets the chance to experience it, so we wanted to give travelers a little taster-and we’re delighted to say the reaction of customers has been blooming marvelous.”
One lucky "flower express" rider exclaimed, "It smells heavenly in there!" All in favor of starting a petition for public transportation to include flower displays, say aye!
You could win two tickets to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show by posting photos of the flower carriage to your social media pages and tagging @HeathrowExpress and #FlowerExpress. The installation will end on May 29.
