Rom-coms are having a comeback, and the streaming platform has plenty to fall in love with.
Rom-coms are for anyone who is happiest romanticizing life and looking at its challenges through rose-colored glasses every once in a while. Sometimes, the only way to get through the day (or the news) is to zone out while watching two predictably charming characters fall in love with each other. Or maybe you’d prefer to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art just to make someone recite the “Waiter, I would like some pepper” scene in the Egyptian room like Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally.
Speaking as someone who once lived around the corner from You’ve Got Mail’s (1998) Cafe Lalo and worked at an Upper West Side bookstore, it is possible to live in a rom-com. Yes, maybe you’re working four jobs and don’t magically own a brownstone apartment. But grab on to whatever rom-com energy that comes your way, because life, unfortunately, was not written by Nora Ephron. She did write the screenplay for This is My Life (1991), but that’s for a different list.
