These are 21 examples of when celebs, sometimes seriously and other times humorously, chose to daringly go for it and let their crushes know they had some feelings them.
1.When Drew Barrymore called out Leonardo DiCaprio's hotness on social media.
2.When Drake gave Vanessa Hudgens a very public shoutout.
At the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, Drake complimented Vanessa's outfit as he accepted an award.
"We're all here on Earth for a limited amount of time, and we gotta show love while we're here. So tonight, I wanna say that, Vanessa Hudgens, you look incredible tonight," he said.
3.When Lizzo revealed that she drunkenly slid into Chris Evans' DMs, and it started an ongoing flirtation between the two.
In April 2021, Lizzo shared on TikTok that she slid into Chris' DMs while drunk and sent him three emojis: the gust of air emoji, the woman playing handball emoji, and a basketball emoji, to show that she was shooting her shot.
Chris later responded, saying, "No shame in a drunk DM. God knows I've done worse on this app lol." Lizzo then posted an update of their conversation and showed that Chris also said to her, "I'm a fan! Keep up the great work! xxx."
Since then, Lizzo has joked that she's pregnant with Chris' baby, so he DM'd her and wrote, "Hi! Just heard about our little bundle of joy. My mother will be so happy lol."
4.When Diane Keaton gave Justin Bieber a kiss on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"That is gorgeous. Wow, I mean, okay, now we're talking," Diane said when Ellen showed her a photo of Justin modeling for Calvin Klein during a 2015 interview. Justin, who was visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show that week, then came out from backstage and gave Diane a hug, and she kissed him on the cheek.
In 2021, Diane appeared in the singer's music video for his song, "Ghost."
5.When Josh Hutcherson was on the hunt for Emma Watson's number.
MTV News reported that Josh said in a 2013 interview with Bang Showbiz that he was trying to get connected with his celebrity crush, Emma Watson.
“I love Emma Watson. I’m dying to meet her,” he said. “I tried to get my manager to call, like, ... 'Could you, like, call Emma’s manager and see if we could, like, meet or something?’ It hasn’t happened yet. One day, fingers crossed!”
6.When Megan Fox asked Adriana Lima if she could be a girlfriend in her life.

While Sebastian and Sharon were guests on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Zach Woods in 2016, Sebastian revealed his longtime crush on Sharon.
"I am geeking out a little bit because, you know, I've been meaning to tell you this for a while ... probably about 15 years, but ... I feel like I've seen you all my life," Sebastian said to Sharon. "And here you are in person, and you look so great."
Later in the interview, Sharon told Sebastian, "You are pretty cute, I just wanna throw that out there."
When the topic of acting headshots later came up, Sebastian continued the flirting, saying to Sharon, "You must have had some great headshots, c'mon ... There must have been some really great photographs."
8.When Bachelorette contestant Mike Johnson asked Keke Palmer out on TV.
While he was a guest on Strahan, Sara and Keke in 2019, the Bachelorette star went for it and asked Keke out in front of everyone on set.
"I don't like dating in the public, but if I were to ask you if we can go on a date, ... in public, ..." Mike said before Keke interjected, saying "What's the next question?"
Keke later said that she never went on a date with Mike.
9.When Julianne Hough wanted to be Daniel Radcliffe's valentine when they were kids.
When she was 11 years old, Julianne was an extra in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Us Weekly reported that, while she was on LIVE! with Kelly in 2012, Julianne said she tried to slip a heartfelt letter to Daniel, but it didn't exactly work out the way she hoped it would.
“I was kind of in love, especially with Daniel Radcliffe. I wrote him a love note,” Julianne said. “It was Valentine’s Day and I got him the Valentino Beanie Baby. I never heard back.”
10.When Nicki Minaj made a NSFW comment toward Michael B. Jordan during an award acceptance speech.
Nicki called out Michael at the end of an acceptance speech she gave at the People's Choice Awards in 2018, saying, "Shoutout to Donatella Versace for custom-making this outfit for me, and shoutout to Michael B. Jordan, 'cause he's gonna be taking it off of me tonight."
11.When Dua Lipa said she slid into Anwar Hadid's DMs, and they started dating.
In 2020, Andy Cohen asked if either of his Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen guests, Lena Dunham and Dua Lipa, had ever slid into a celebrity's DMs.
"I have a confession to make ... mine was my boyfriend," Dua said. "We actually met at a barbecue, but it then carried on onto DMs."
Dua and Anwar are reportedly taking a break after two years together.
12.When Lena Dunham confessed she DM'd a Skarsgård brother, but couldn't remember which one it was.
In the same Watch What Happens Live interview with Dua Lipa, Lena said she once sent a DM to a Skarsgård, although she couldn't recall the details.
"It was one of the Skarsgård brothers, and I can't remember which," she said.
When Andy asked if she got a response after sending the DM, Lena said, "Like, a cozy one."
13.When Demi Lovato sent Emily Hampshire a DM asking her out and made a good friend.
“You slid in my DMs and you said, ‘Hey, I like you on the show. We should kick it sometime,’” the Schitt's Creek star said on Demi's podcast, 4D With Demi Lovato, in 2021. “And then you said, below it, ‘And by kick it, I mean, like, go on a date. I find you attractive.’"
Emily said she was hesitant to pursue this because there's an age gap of a decade between her and Demi. Even though it didn't work out romantically, the two ended up becoming friends after Demi's move.
"I was like, ‘What’s the worst that could happen?’ And then I made a really good friend ... You’re a dope friend, and I’m happy that we became friends after that," Demi said.
14.When Chris Rock tried to approach Rihanna, but got placed in the dreaded uncle zone.
"I thought, hey, I'm single now, let me give it a go," Chris said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2018 about approaching Rihanna. "You ever not realize how old you are? Like, I couldn't tell how old I was ... [Rihanna] didn't even register me as a sexual being. I was, like, in the uncle zone," he said.
Chris said that, although she didn't see him as a potential romantic partner, Rihanna did go to one of his comedy shows after this encounter.
15.When Nicholas Braun asked if Kim Kardashian would be open to dating a new type of guy.
In an Instagram video from 2021, which Nicholas posted following reports of Kim and Kanye's divorce, he asked if Kim would be open to dating someone different.
"Oh gosh. This Kim and Kanye divorce news is just bumming me out ... I'm wondering at this point, like, where do they even go from here?" Nicholas said before adding, "[Is Kim] willing to even take a shot on a new guy at this point? ... Would [she] be down to meet a new person, [a] totally just kinda different guy? ... or just a guy who's talking about it on the internet?"
Kim may have missed this message, since she's now dating Pete Davidson, who recently called her his girlfriend for the first time during an interview.
16.When 50 Cent complimented Vivica A. Fox on stage, which started a relationship between the two.
During an acceptance speech at the 2003 BET Awards, 50 Cent complimented Vivica's outfit, saying, "I'm just happy to be present for all of these beautiful people in here. You know, I wanna thank Vivica Fox for wearing that dress too."
This started a romance between the two which ultimately didn't last, but in a 2021 interview with DJ Vlad, Vivica said 50 was "the love of [her] life."
17.When Anthony Mackie, who is a Golden Girls fan, said that Betty White once flirted with him.
Anthony said in a 2021 interview with Jimmy Fallon that he enjoys watching reruns of the Golden Girls, and he called Betty "one of the most talented women."
He also shared a story of when he saw her at an event in New York, then approached her to say he's a big fan.
"I fanboyed out and ran up to her and was like, 'Oh my God, I love you so much, I'm such a fan. Like, the [Golden Girls] episode where you were tap dancing was so beautiful,'" Anthony said. "So, she laughed and touched my face and she says, 'Oh, you make me wish I was 40 years younger!' And I was like, I would do that."

Wells responded with a tweet jokingly saying Sarah was hired to be his bar back on the show. After that, he DM'd Sarah, they began dating and the pair are now engaged.
