It's the hot, summer days of August and farmers market season is still in full swing. Most of the area markets are open Saturdays and there are several that operate Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Bardstown Road Farmers' Market

WHAT: Since 1991, this market has hosted more than 30 vendors with a diverse, high-quality selection of locally grown, locally made products. It offers seasonal fruit and vegetables, cut flowers, potted plants, meats, cheese, baked goods, omelets made to order, honey and more.

New Roots uses cooperative economics to pool its money and SNAP Benefits on an income-based sliding scale and negotiate wholesale prices with local organic produce farmers. Everyone wins: farmers get a fair price and families facing limited resources can gain access to a consistent supply of affordable, farm-fresh, organic and seasonal produce.

New Roots Fresh Stop Markets pop up for two hours, biweekly in the community from May through October. Everyone gets the same fresh food no matter what they pay. Open to families on SNAP and/or facing limited resources.
