Rag & Bone launches reusable face masks made from recycled fabric

Rag & Bone has officially pivoted its factories to produce fabric face coverings that are crafted from the brand’s upcycled, ready-to-wear fabrications.
“In the spirit of doing whatever we can to service our customers, keep our business healthy, and keep some of our domestic factories going during this challenging time, we are starting to make non-medical masks in the Garment Districts of New York and Los Angeles,” Rag & Bone stated on its website.
At $30 apiece, the reusable face masks don’t come cheap, but Rag & Bone’s transparent pricing strategy reveals that the cost to produce and deliver a single mask is approximately $21. And each individual mask purchase will result in a $5 donation to the New York-based charity City Harvest, while the remainder of proceeds will support local workers and the continued manufacturing of non-medical masks.

The CDC is continuing to recommend that people wear “face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.” Although fabric face masks will not protect you from getting the virus, the CDC explains that it can help “slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.”
The New York-based label also pledged to lower its prices sitewide in an open letter from Rag & Bone’s founder, Marcus Wainright.
“We believe in giving our customers products that have value, literally and figuratively, at a fair price. But like the rest of the world and the rest of our industry we are doing our best to navigate our way through this, acknowledging that we need to do all we can to support and protect our employees, our company and our customers,” the letter said in part. “To that end we have decided to lower our retail prices across the board until this is over, or until we are allowed out of our homes and back to work.”
As many states continue to issue orders that require people to wear cloth masks in public places, we’ve come to terms with the fact that we will most likely be sporting face masks for a while. Shop Rag & Bone’s offerings below.
