The newest skincare secret is taking your used coffee filter and smearing it on your face. Well, almost.

UK-based brand UpCircle is turning food waste into skincare wonder products — and these items can compete with your top-shelf beauty favorites.

UpCircle’s low waste line includes everything from serums and scrubs to multi-use soaps and masks. Through using recycled ingredients in its product line, UpCircle has upcycled more than 250 tons of previously used coffee grounds. The brand’s soap is also made of previously brewed chai tea spices and discarded fruit pits.

Additionally, UpCircle only uses vegan, cruelty-free and sustainable ingredients, and the brand sources its food ingredients from organic cafes in the UK.

“One-third of all food produced is wasted,” the brand’s website reads. “Food ingredients can have powerful effects on the body so there’s an opportunity for us to create beauty products from food ingredients that are being discarded yet still have much to offer our skin.”

But that low waste philosophy doesn’t end with ingredients. UpCircle products also come in 100 percent recyclable packaging, including aluminum tubes for scrubs and glass containers for moisturizers.

The products, which are available at Ulta, range in price from $9 for a soap bar to $24 for face masks. All 14 products on the Ulta site have five stars, and the high ratings continue on to the brand’s website.

One reviewer wrote, “I just love these products. I started off with a scrub and a soap bar, and now I’ve gone back for the face cream and the hydrate serum. My skin is loving it!”

Another buyer agreed, writing, “My skin feels so fresh without any tightness. Just soft glowing skin. The gorgeous smell is a bonus.”
