Selena Gomez is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at some of her quarantine rituals, including how she’s looking after her mental health while stuck at home.

The 27-year-old singer, who has long been open about her struggles with depression and anxiety, shared the advice in an Instagram video on May 20.

Gomez’s clip, which was promoted by Instagram’s official account, features three minutes of the musician playing piano, hanging out with her dog and discussing why she believes mental health awareness is especially important right now.

“I think right now it is more important than ever to talk than ever to talk about mental health, which is a subject that is very personal to me,” Gomez says at the start of the video.

The “Boyfriend” singer then takes fans inside her home, stopping along the way to discuss different ways she’s supporting herself mentally.

One of those methods: Gomez’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) workbook, which is a tool designed to help people pay greater attention to their emotions and develop methods for dealing with overpowering feelings.

Gomez also emphasized the need for creative outlets, such as playing piano, singing and — likely to the excitement of many fans — working on a new song that the singer seemed to be discussing with a sound engineer during her video.

Finally, Gomez stressed the power of unwinding at the end of the day, and the importance of devoting a true routine to settling down after she’s done working. In her case, that includes a nightly walk to “get rid of the day.”

Gomez says that she then settles down in bed under an anxiety blanket, as well as lighting a candle to relax.

“Thank you so much for taking a break with me,” Gomez concludes her video. “To talk about the importance of mental health.”
