Doorbell camera captures reactions to sign, neighbors post them on Instagram: 'Bonkers'

During these uncertain times, it’s always reassuring to find a little bit of humor and good news out in the world.

One Michigan family is putting that humor out there themselves. Liz Koto and her family put up a sign outside their house making it mandatory for passersby to have a silly walk. The sign was inspired by a joke from “Monty Python’s Flying Circus."

Low on supplies? We’re regularly updating our list of retailers that are still selling household essentials, including toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

The sign tells neighbors that they are entering the jurisdiction of the ministry of silly walks — and that if they don’t get the reference, they should Google it before proceeding.

Koto’s doorbell camera captured enough footage of people complying with the rule that she set up an Instagram dedicated to the silliest walks to happen in front of her family’s house.

“The reactions have been so uplifting, so joyful and so happy,” Koto told WXYZ Detroit.

The Instagram account now has over 42,000 followers and has inspired Monty Python fans to visit the house and perform their own silly walk.

“A couple came by and posted a photo onto her Facebook page and it went bonkers,” Koto continued.

The couple in question — Scott and Kara Shall — shared a photo of Scott posing with the sign on Facebook, which rapidly got shared by friends and thousands of strangers alike.

“Dance like no one is watching, I think silly walk like no one is watching, even though they are and they are going to post it on Instagram,” Kara laughed.
