When you think of clothing designed for women, you may think of dresses and traditionally feminine pieces. But what about suits, button-ups and snapbacks?
Wildfang is a woman-owned, queer-owned clothing brand that is messing with gender stereotypes and expectations. The brand, which was launched in 2013, was created with the goal of creating a “home for badass womxn everywhere.” “Womxn” refers to all “woman” and people impacted by sexism — cisgender, transgender or otherwise identified.
“It started with the ‘radical’ belief that a womxn has the right to wear whatever the hell she wants and be whoever the hell she wants,” the brand’s website reads.
The brand carries pieces that are designed to fit bodies with broader hips, breasts and curves. The cuts of the pieces — which range from suits to button-ups to boiler suits — are great for women, trans men and nonbinary people who were assigned female at birth, though anyone can wear the pieces.
And the brand prioritizes giving back. In 2018, Wildfang raised more than $400,000 for charities that support reproductive, immigrant and human rights.
