My friends like to make fun of me, but I love glitter. Whether it be in a hair spray or on a handbag, count me in. One of my favorite, more subtle ways to wear glitter, however, is on my nails.
Glitter nails started trending as early as last fall, but as 2020 kicked-off, the trend started picking up. From full glitter coats to fun accents (like a glitter French tip), you’ll find the trend everywhere from Instagram to the red carpet. For some, it’s a bold look, while for others, more of a neutral. It’s true — glitter nails go with just about every outfit.
There are more than a few benefits to wearing glitter nail polish too: it can hide imperfections in the nail, it’s easier to paint yourself and it doesn’t chip as easily. Wins all around, people!
While some glitter nail polishes are more sheer and require several coats for full coverage, often resulting in a thick and clumpy mess, Urban Outfitters has a selection that only requires the standard two and an optional top coat.
UO Nail Polish comes in 26 shades, seven of which are sparkly. My favorite is Night Moves, a silver that looks just short of applying Elmer’s glue and fine loose glitter to your nails in a less tacky, yet amazing way. (Check it out on my nails in the gif above!)
Shop: UO Nail Polish in Night Moves, $5
I actually applied Night Moves to my toes before running a full 26.2 mile marathon and at the end, my nails still looked perfect. It seriously didn’t chip at all! But, when I did want to remove the nail polish, I used a nail file to gently scrub the top followed by regular nail polish remover on a cotton ball and it came off fairly easy.
Shop: UO Nail Polish in Rhinestone Cowboy, $5
Another favorite of mine from the UO Nail Polish Line is the Rhinestone Cowboy, a blue glitter polish that stands out a bit more, because, well, it’s blue.
Right now, the entire UO Nail Polish line is on sale, so if you want to cop the look, now is the time. Each polish on its own retails for $5, but Urban Outfitters currently has a deal: Get three for $10. (And don’t worry, they have solid colors too.)
My current nail polish collection is sorted by shade in five large Container Store canisters, and I’d estimate that I probably have around 150 options, but these UO glitter polishes are my current go-to.
