Viewers Had Fiery Thoughts About Lily-Rose Depp’s “The Idol” Character Smoking So Much In That Premiere Episode
If there’s one thing Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) is going to do in The Idol, it’s serve looks and smoke a cigarette.
The Idol, an anticipated yet controversial new series by The Weeknd and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, premiered Sunday night.
It stars Lily-Rose as Jocelyn, a pop star making a comeback who gets caught up in the mysterious world of Tedros (The Weeknd), an ominous nightclub owner who seems to take too much of a liking to the singer.
While the show features an impressive and star-powered supporting cast, including BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Troye Sivan, Rachel Sennott, and Dan Levy among many others, allegations of a questionable workplace and offensive depictions of sex and nudity have shrouded the series ahead of its premiere.
Amid all that's going on with the series on screen and off, a surprising theme caught viewers' attention on Sunday for its absurdity and recurrence.
That’d be the fact that Jocelyn just can’t stop smoking.
In numerous scenes of the premiere episode, she's lighting or smoking a cigarette. Viewers couldn’t help but catch the detail. How could they not? Her cigarette use is practically a supporting character in the episode.
