2 Million Air Fryers Recalled After Hundreds of Users Report Appliance Catching Fire

The recall affects several model numbers.

Air Fryers have made quite a stir in recent years, with plenty of kitchen adventurers desperate to get their hands on one.

If you've jumped on the craze, it's time to check your fryer's model number, as over two million units sold across the U.S., Canada and Mexico have just been recalled.

The notice was published Feb. 23, by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, or CPSC, for several models of Cosori Air Fryers due to a fire and burn hazard.

According to the recall, the issue lies within a wire connection that poses a risk for overheating, which can lead to ignition and burn injuries. There have been 205 reports so far of the units catching fire, burning, melting, overheating and smoking. 10 reports have included minor, superficial burn injuries and 23 have included minor property damage.

Units display the brand name Cosori on the front and were sold in several shades of red, white, gray, black, and blue. The model number can be found on the bottom label of each unit, which retailed between $70 and $130 at retailers including Best Buy, Target, The Home Depot, Amazon, and several more between June 2018 and Dec. 2022.

If your unit is affected, stop using the air fryer immediately, unplug it from its electrical source, and cut off the power cord. Register your recall with Cosori to choose a free replacement air fryer or alternative product from the brand. No proof of purchase is required; all you need to submit is your contact information and photos proving the recalled unit has been disabled.

While you're at it, take a look at the rest of the contents of your kitchen. In the last month alone, several household cleaning products and hundreds of breakfast food products have also been recalled.
