Now that season 1 of 1923 has come to an end, fans are eager for more and can't wait to find out what happens when Spencer gets to Montana. As promised, the Yellowstone prequel focuses on the Dutton family struggling to keep their ranch during the Great Depression. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren lead the all-star cast, and breakout stars Brandon Sklenar and Julia Schlaepfer bring the swoony romance as Spencer and Alex.

We can't help but wonder what the future of the series holds. Fans were devastated when 1883 ended after just 10 (heart-wrenching) episodes. Another spinoff, 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, is in the works starring David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid, but the chapter of the Yellowstone universe that included Faith Hill and Tim McGraw closed after just one season.

Will the same be true for 1923? Good news, fans. The streaming service has officially confirmed that the show will return for a second season. According to an official release, "Paramount+ today officially announced that the record-breaking drama series 1923 will return for a second season."

The show's official Instagram account also shared the news with its fans. Fans left comments like "YESSSSSSSS! TERRIFIC NEWS ABOUT A TERRIFIC SHOW! 🥰🎉" and "🔥🔥🔥 such a good show! Can’t wait for the rest of season 1!" But other fans are still not over 1883, and wrote, "Why didn’t 1883 have 2 seasons!! It was way better!!!" and " I wish they would continue 1883."

According to The Wall Street Journal, a second season of 1923 will begin shooting this spring. And there's one big reason: money. With filming locations in Montana and three different African countries, the show, which was produced in just 10 months, was very expensive, so spreading the costs out over more episodes makes financial sense.

The Wall Street Journal also reports, "'1923' emerged with a price tag of up to $22 million for each of the eight episodes now rolling out weekly on the Paramount+ streaming service, according to people involved with the show. To spread out their production costs and nearly double their supply of content, producers decided (mid-shoot last October) to make more '1923' than they had originally planned. Shooting on a second batch of eight episodes, with an estimated cost of $17 million each, is scheduled to start this spring."

If you haven't watched yet, now is the perfect time to get started. The show airs exclusively on Paramount+.
