The hope when you go through a breakup is that you and your partner can go your separate ways with no hard feelings.
In a lot of cases, this means a sharp dropoff in the amount you contact each other. But then there are some exes who will just NOT leave you alone.
Recently, we asked the BuzzFeed Community to show us the worst texts they've gotten from their toxic exes. Here* are some exes who just do not know how to quit.

1.Pro tip: Do NOT comment on an ex's weight.
"Things had fallen off with this human after they'd ditched me on my birthday (and then a global pandemic happened). We'd started chatting a bit during the first phases of everyone sheltering in place, and inevitably began discussing why things had ended and whether we'd be interested in pursuing anything in the future. Then this massive unasked for commentary on my body and projected insecurity came in. This human also knew I have an eating disorder when they sent this. Not that it matters at this stage, but I also never asked them if my weight bothered them."

3.I cannot stand the guilting and "woe is me" here. Go to therapy, don't text your ex.

4.Also a classic — completely changing from apologetic and sweet to manipulative and angry.
"I was engaged and then saw how toxic and mentally/emotionally abusive the relationship was, and how I was really thinking, 'if we get married, there’s always divorce…' My boundaries were not accepted by him, and I was harassed, like in this text, constantly after the break up. Also, I paid rent for like half a year for an apartment I didn’t live in. Such a fun experience."

He lost a pair of his own headphones yet somehow blamed me for it? ... One Christmas Eve he forced me to leave my own family and go and spend Christmas Eve with him or he'd break up with me, and one time wouldn't let me see my mum for a week and tried to sever the bonds between me and her."
10.Oh look, another "never talk to me again" while literally initiating a conversation.
"This was after our breakup…after I blocked him. He texted me from his work phone to send these nasty messages. After two and half years of verbal abuse, I was able to leave. I keep these messages as motivation and proof of how far I’ve come."
11.This guy can't commit to a divorce, but can commit to another marriage.
"I wish this was a joke. My husband left seven years ago, just before Christmas and our 20th wedding anniversary, and we're technically still married because I don't have the money to pay for the divorce by myself and I haven't always had contact with him. But a couple of weeks ago, my sister sent me a Facebook announcement of his recent nuptials — which was news to me, since we're still married! I texted him and this was the exchange."

If I was so hard to live up to, why dick around with every woman who would have you? Also, that poor girl. I hope he let her down gently but it's also a lucky escape as he was emotionally abusive. The same ex also asked when he would meet my son when my husband and I had our baby...uhm never?"
