As avid shoppers, we believe supporting Black-owned businesses is a powerful way to be an ally and support a community that faces systemic racism. From restaurants to beauty products and fashion to home goods, there are countless Black-owned businesses that allow you to buy the best of the best. Being mindful of where you spend money can change lives, especially in marginalized communities.

At House Beautiful, we have a love and appreciation of all things interior and design, so we rounded up several Black-owned home shops you can support now and beyond. Rest assured we covered all the categories you'll need, from cookware for your kitchen to wall coverings for your new bedroom to accent pillows for your living room couch. While it's always a good idea to work the new pieces into your own space, the next time you need a gift for someone, be it a friend or family member, have that purchase be from a Black-owned brand too. In fact, many of the products on this list are gift-friendly, like the outdoorsy scented candles from Loam, a cute coffee table book from Domain by Laura Hodges, or a Le Creuset piece from the brand's collab with Sheila Bridges. In your day to day, there are always opportunities to support Black business owners if you make a conscious decision to do so.

Loam

We love small batch, handmade candles and Loam fits this bill perfectly. Based in Los Angeles, Jessica White creates scents that evoke the smells of the great outdoors and flourishing gardens. It helps that White has a background as an urban farmer in L.A., too, as she knows exactly what type of candles we all want. Check out options such as Full Bloom (it smells like lily of the valley, wood, dewy leaves, and ylang ylang) or Citrus Season: a floral, subtly sweet scent of neroli, sandalwood, kumquat, and yuzu blossoms.

Bolé Road

Brooklyn-based interior designer Hana Getachew founded Bolé Road to showcase her love for handwoven textiles from her home country, Ethiopia. Her brand offers pillows, towels, and throws in the most soothing shades. Though most of her products come in neutral hues like beige or brown, you can find pops of color like orange and blue through her patterns.

Kintsugi

When you're craving a sense of peace and calmness, just light a candle from Allison Jones's brand Kintsugi. She launched her company after finding out how pivotal the role of fragrance and essential oils played in helping her recover from her brain tumor removal.

Linoto

Jason Evege started Linoto in 2007, offering up linen sheets, napkins, and tablecloths to enhance all your hosting needs. The artisanal goods are all made at the company's workshop in Westchester County in New York. "We are passionate and invested in everything we make. Every item is marked on the cloth with chalk, cut with tailor shears, expertly measured, expertly sewn to the same standards as a designer dress, then washed with natural laundry soap and shipped in plastic free recycled packaging," Evege's website reads. No matter which piece you buy from Linoto, you'll know it was made with care and love.

Domain by Laura Hodges

Baltimore-based designer Laura Hodges not only runs her own interior design firm, but also operates this online shop that serves up a variety of home goods. The categories touch on everything, from dinnerware and coffee table books to body scrubs and jewelry. Basically, if you're a fashion, beauty, and home enthusiast, you'll find something to add to cart from Domain.

Sheila Bridges

Interior designer Sheila Bridges is a well-known figure in the industry, so it should come as no surprise that she has several high-profile partnerships right now. One of them is with iconic brand Le Creuset, where limited-edition cookware pieces feature Bridges's beloved Harlem Toile de Jouy pattern. If cooking is not your thing, check out her collection of wallpapers, books, totes, and more on her website.

Harlem Candle Co.

Teri Jackson started making candles in her kitchen in 2014 that combined her love for fragrance, jazz, and Harlem. Fast forward to today, her luxury home fragrance brand has made its way into retailers like Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, and Macy's. You can instantly recognize her creations based on the luxe and moody fragrance vessels, like this "Speakeasy" diffuser set.

theBOM

Founded by Michelle Dalzon, theBOM is a platform for Black brands to reach new audiences. "My goal is to make sure every Black person has a place to shop within their community FIRST before having to search outside. All of the brands featured on theBOM are of quality and are accompanied by amazing founder stories," Dalzon says on her website. Johanna Howard

For the Japandi decorators, you'll want to shop Johanna Howard's eponymous brand as it mixes Scandinavian design with artisan traditions from around the world. You can find hand-woven goods like this set of four placemats as well as pillows and throws on her website.

Lichen

If you want unique artsy pieces in your home, head to Ed Be and Jared Blake's brand Lichen. Founded in 2017, the design incubator and studio offers furniture pieces that also look like works of art. Go for this side table from Williams’ Living Tables Collection or lean back in this '70s Mobil Girgi accent chair.

The Collective Shop

No matter what type of home goods you need, whether it be a cocktail recipes book or handmade pottery, you can find it at The Collective Shop. Toni Point and Alysia Fields started the shop as a way to share their local finds from NOLA with the world. Curves by Sean Brown

Sean Brown’s namesake brand offers tongue-in-cheek home pieces, so if you don't take your decor too seriously, this is the shopping spot for you. Jungalow

Born out of designer Justina Blakeney's blog of the same name, Jungalow offers colorful home accessories that reflect her bold and plant-filled style. This ceramic bowl planter with drainage comes in seven cheerful shades, adding just the right pop of color in your home.

Edloe Finch

When former NFL player Darryl Sharpton and his wife, Jessica, were frustrated with long lead times and high prices while shopping for a sofa, they took matters into their own hands. They started a direct-to-consumer brand that ships quality furniture with a quick turnaround time from a warehouse at their headquarters in Houston. Expedition Subsahara

Senegalese-American Sofi Seck founded Expedition Subsahara with two goals: to bring colorful African decor to the American market and to provide an income for African women. Seck's mission statement is: "We are Expedition Subsahara, and we translate handmade goods into girls' education." You can support the company's mission by scooping up this woven hamper basket featuring a coil-style weaving technique with locally-harvested elephant grass and recycled plastic.

Goodee

Founded by brothers Byron and Dexter Peart, the brains behind cult favorite brand WANT Les Essentiels, Goodee is an online marketplace that offers home items from independent makers around the world. Find everything from woven baskets (like these, handmade in Ghana) to kitchen accessories, furniture, and much more.

Clare

Two years ago, designer Nicole Gibbons channeled her frustrations with the paint industry into a startup, Clare, that sells interior and exterior house paint in beautifully curated colors direct to consumers and offers all the tools you need to apply it. Her paint color names are so creative—this pistachio green is called "Two Scoops."

Mitchell Black

Founded by Lynai Jones, this Chicago-based wallcovering brand is here to bring life to your interiors. It offers both bespoke and customizable wall murals, peel-and-stick wallpaper, and floormats in refreshing and modern designs that will instantly elevate your home. Clean Design Home

Sleep in peace thanks to Robin Wilson's hypoallergenic lifestyle brand. Clean Design Home offers an impressive line of towels, robes, bedding, mattresses, candles, and cleaners! The lint-resistant bath towels and anti-allergen bedding will put an end to your days and nights of sneezing. Today, Wilson's hypoallergenic textile brand is sold globally, from the United Kingdom to Japan.

Estelle Colored Glass

Named for founder Stephanie Hall's grandmother, Estelle Colored Glass is a wonderland for luxury colorful glass kitchenware. Hall noted a lack of vibrant options while antiquing in her local stores, a cherished activity she had shared with her grandmother. That inspired her to start her business. Her handblown glassware collection is filled with gems you'll keep front and center when hosting in your home. They come in an eye-catching array of jewel tones and pastels that add a vintage yet modern touch to your tablescape.

Claude Home

Maggie Holladay founded every collector's dream in Claude Home, an online gallery of unique home goods. Selling vintage and new furniture and decor (some of which she designed herself), Claude Home has garnered a cult following of minimalists and curators who want a "wow" factor in their homes. Customers can find everything from treasures like leather de Sede sofas to new loves from up-and-coming contemporary artisans. Dressing Rooms Interiors Studio

Ariene Bethea operates a treasure-filled shop in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she sells vintage furniture, decor, and accessories. She also offers them up online and through Instagram. For a colorful statement in your living room, add these custom hand-painted cube side tables to cart.

54kibo

Nana Quagraine founded 54kibo to bring contemporary African design to an online audience. The site offers everything from handwoven rugs to colorful furniture to intricate lighting, all sourced from Africa. Karen Jai Home

Founded by Janelle Langford, Karen Jai Home is stocked with gems to elevate your space with luxurious finishes. From furniture to art, the site is curated for lovers of contemporary design. The company even offers complimentary styling services with design specialists!

Modish Decor Pillows

Sink into the stylish, soft-to-the-touch accent pillows designed by Chantal Bradley. Laura Hodges Studio

Next Wave designer Laura Hodges runs Domain, a design shop in Baltimore selling unique, often handmade decor and accessories. You can shop her goods by type, collection, and price online. Marie Burgos

Designer Marie Burgos's furniture and home collection offers pieces that bridge function and artfulness, with a focus on bold new contemporary styles. Made x Hands

Samita Malik and Bryan Turpin founded Made x Hands to spotlight the crafts of Asia and Africa. According to their website's about me page, their "original pieces pay homage to ancient arts and majestic materials that were trekked overland and sailed along maritime silk routes as early as 130 BC." Meaning you'll find an assortment of pillows, throws, and colorful handmade rugs that were inspired by the founders' native lands.

Candice Luter ART + HOME

Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Candice Luter creates unique textural mirrors, wall hangings, and home accessories. She started her design journey in 2014 when she began creating one-of-a-kind pieces from her home studio. Since then, she's won Etsy's Design Awards (in 2021) and has partnered with retailers like Target, West Elm, and Wayfair on sold-out pieces. Her works of art are influenced by her travels, family, and life experiences while touching on aesthetics like mid-century modern, art deco, and minimalism.

Ekua Ceramics

Ceramicist Sara Ekua Todd creates sculptural vases, mugs, and other vessels with unexpected details, like the scalloped handle on the Petal mug seen here. She also makes delightful planters and vases, so stay tuned for new additions.

Jomo Furniture

Ethiopian American artist and industrial designer Jomo Tariku makes sculptural, modern African furniture from rich natural materials. Fun fact: the Nyala (seen here), Qwanta and Meedo chairs as well as Watatu Stool series were used on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever stage design. Tariku's work has been featured in museums such as the Met and LACMA. Additionally, he is one of the co-founders of BADG (Black Artists + Designers Guild), an organization that works to promote Black designers globally.

Johanna Howard Home

An alum of the fashion industry, Swedish-born Johanna Howard translated her lifelong love of textiles into a home decor business. She now sells throws, pillows, table linens, and candles to help you outfit your home in style. One of our favorite pieces is this soft alpaca blanket with an ombré design. Each piece is handwoven then hand-dyed by the brand's artisans in small pots over an open fire, ensuring your piece is 100 percent unique.

The Black Home

Founded by designer Neffi Walker, The Black Home opened its first brick-and-mortar outpost in 2021 (and landed on our Best Home Stores in America list the same year). The shop offers a wide array of furniture, accessories, art, and more—all selected by Walker in her signature bold, opulent style.

Malene Barnett

Artist Malene Barnett specializes in sculptural ceramic installations and vessels, mixed media paintings, and tapestries. Through her work, she shares her African Caribbean heritage while raising awareness about racial inequality in America. In fact, she's the founder of the Black Artists + Designers Guild and has given talks to raise awareness around Caribbean makers and ceramic art traditions of the Black diaspora.

Rochelle Porter

Atlanta-based Rochelle Porter sells vibrant home decor inspired by everything, from her Caribbean roots and Scandinavian design to the warp and weft of West African weaves. According to the brand's website, their tagline is "design for abundant living" as the company's goal is to make life "richer and more vibrant" for those shopping the brand. Indeed this is true—just take a look at this black and white intricately patterned table runner. It will be the statement piece in your dining room.

xN Studio

Founded by Nasozi Kakembo in 2011, xN Studio offers an assortment of home decor inspired and sourced from all around the world. The company's items are made in Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., or in Uganda through fair-trade partnerships.

You may never have as green a thumb as plant expert Hilton Carter, but thanks to his e-commerce site you can gift yourself (or a plant-loving friend) the same tools he uses, like this handsome and practical planting apron.

Marabou Design

Seattle-based artist Brandy Brown creates beautiful prints on museum quality paper that you'll want to hang all over your home. She draws her inspiration from her ancestry, femininity, botanicals, and interiors. Here, you can see Brown's print on Minted is combination of the aforementioned elements.

Ayesha Curry Home Collection

Ayesha Curry needs no introduction, but just in case you were wondering: she's an actress, cookbook author, and beloved TV personality.
