For as long as there has been a “like” button, contrarian YouTube users have equally enjoyed using the “dislike” button. In fact, in 2019, the platform warned of “dislike mobs” who smash the dislike button before even watching a video just to bury it with the algorithm. Some people just like to watch the world burn!

These are the most-disliked YouTube videos and a few of their surrounding controversies.

15. Masha and the Bear – “Recipe for Disaster”

Ironically, this children’s animation from Russia is also one of the most-liked YouTube videos of all time. You can’t please everyone!

This popular children’s Hindi song has received over 1.8 billion views on YouTube, but apparently not everyone vibed with the animation.

Swedish gamer PewDiePie tempted fate in 2016 when he asked for 1 million dislikes and got five times as many.

10. Jake Paul – “It’s Everyday Bro” feat. Team 10

YouTuber Jake Paul’s 2017 diss track attacking his ex-girlfriend Alissa Violet, PewDiePie and the social media collectives DigiTour and Magcon didn’t go over so well. It has more than 5 million dislikes on YouTube, putting it in the top 10 most-disliked YouTube videos of all time. People just weren’t feeling Paul’s Disney Channel flow.

CoComelon’s Nursery Rhymes is one of the most popular channels on YouTube. However, not everyone was sold on this song about bath time.

8. “Flores” – Vitão and Luísa Sonza

When Brazilian singers Vitão and Luísa Sonza collaborated for this steamy video in July, Sonza received a tirade of sexist comments calling it overly racy. In fact, the video has twice as many dislikes as likes. Sonza kept things light despite receiving online harassment and said she hopes to surpass Justin Bieber’s “Baby” — the third most disliked, but also one of the most-liked, videos on YouTube.

In 2019, YouTube tried to make up for its flop Rewind video in 2018 video by highlighting clips of vloggers cringing at the 2018 reel. Welp, people clearly didn’t like that very much since YouTube Rewind 2019 is also on this list.

4. Pinkfong! – “Baby Shark Dance”

“Baby Shark Dance” spawned the #BabySharkChallenge, which led the song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. But not everyone loves the song; in fact, some find it so annoying that city officials in West Palm Beach, Fla., played the song to deter people dealing with homelessness.

People love to hate controversial tween heartthrob Justin Bieber, and 2010’s “Baby” was no exception.

The trailer for Alia Bhatt’s film Sadak 2 received backlash following the untimely death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Rajput’s death caused Bollywood fans to rethink nepotism in the industry, and the film features a lot of actors with famous family members.

1. YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind

Bieber’s “Baby” took eight years to rack up 10 million dislikes; YouTube Rewind 2018 took about eight days. The platform landed in hot water when it changed its Rewind format from highlighting the most popular videos and creators to picking and choosing who and what it would include.

Huge YouTubers like PewDiePie, Logan Paul and Shane Dawson were excluded from the video. However, it’s important to note that they also had major controversies that year: PewDiePie used anti-Semitic slurs, Paul trivialized real people who died in Japan’s Aokigahara Forest and Dawson joked about pedophilia.
