Kendall Jenner can’t stop wearing this mini Prada nylon shoulder bag. Now, of course, every fashion girl on Instagram is copying the style. As a result, the bag — which was once an affordable mainstay on resale sites like eBay, Etsy and Poshmark — is now nearly impossible to come by for less than $500.
Before the Prada bag bubble burst a few months ago, I was waiting to find one for less than $100 before taking the plunge. Of course, that was all over after the third time Kendall wore the tiny tote. As somebody who prides myself on my vintage hunting skills, I knew I’d missed my shot and waited too long. Now in my personal search, the cheapest one I’ve found is this one on eBay for a cool $504. Most are priced around $800.

In this way, vintage shopping is a lot like buying plane tickets. If you know what you’re doing, where to look, and the best time to buy, you can get the same product as everybody else at a fraction of the cost. If not, you have to live with spending hundreds over budget on a seat near the bathroom.
