14 Celebs Who Caught Another Celeb Talking Crap About Them Online, So They Called Them Out

From subtweets to trolls, celebs are no strangers to online negativity. Sometimes, however, the person making the shady comment is another celeb, which leads to some pretty public drama.

Here are 14 times celebs called each other out for shady social media comments:

1.THE CONTEXT: In 2022, Pink called out Rolling Stone's "The 25 Greatest Grammy Performances of All Time" article on Instagram, writing, "This is the magazine that used to feature people like John Lennon and Muddy Waters. Hunter S Thompson wrote political pieces — they put Tina Turner on their cover."

THE COMMENT: Then, she brought up Jersey Shore star Snooki Polizzi unprompted, adding, "Then they sold out and all credibility went to shit when 'style over substance' and 'revenue over authenticity' went into play. That's when Snooki became acceptable coverage. Give me a fucking break..."

THE COMEBACK: Nearly a year later, Pink's comments resurfaced following criticism of another Rolling Stone list — and this time, Snooki noticed. On Twitter, she said, "Omg I never saw this! Pink came for me? The fuckkkkk lol."

In a follow-up tweet replying to a fan, she added, "LOL. Like why me girl?! The fuck."

2.THE CONTEXT: In 2018, JoJo Siwa shared an Instagram picture of her car, which was covered in pictures of her face.

THE COMMENT: The shop that did her custom wrap reposted the picture, then Justin Bieber left two identical comments — "Burn it."

He later apologized to her on Twitter, writing, "I have nothing against you it was the car and the colors I didn't like. I really hope you didn't think it was malicious or mean spirited."

THE COMEBACK: In 2022, JoJo mocked the situation on TikTok. Over a picture of her car, she mouthed a trending audio from The Vampire Diaries — "Did I say stand there and look stupid? No, I said burn it!"

3.THE CONTEXT: In her 2022 documentary My Mind And Me, Selena Gomez said that Taylor Swift is her "only friend in the industry."

THE COMMENT: When E! News posted the quote on Instagram, Francia Raisa, Selena's kidney donor, friend, and fellow actor, commented, "Interesting."

Francia deleted her comment, but she also unfollowed Selena.

THE COMEBACK: In a TikTok someone else made about the situation, Selena commented, "Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know."

Her remark sparked backlash amongst fans, who brought back old rumors that she was tired of feeling "indebted" to Francia.

4.THE CONTEXT: In 2016, Justin Bieber posted a series of Instagram pictures with his then-girlfriend Sofia Richie. He warned fans he'd delete his account if they didn't stop harassing her and comparing her to his ex Selena Gomez in the comments.

THE COMMENT: Then, Selena herself commented, "If you can't handle the hate, stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol — it should be special between you two only. Don't be mad at your fans. They love you and supported you before anyone ever did."

THE COMEBACK: In a series of comments, Justin said, "It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love...I'm not one for anyone receiving hate. Hope you all can be kind to my friends and each other. And yes, I love my Beliebers."

He then temporarily deleted his account.

5.THE CONTEXT: A little over a month after Zayn Malik left One Direction in 2015, producer Naughty Boy shared a filtered picture of the two of them on Twitter.

THE COMMENT: Then, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn's ex-bandmate, tweeted, "Remember when you were 12 and you used to think those Mac filters for your pictures were cool haha ! Some people still do HA!"

THE COMEBACK: After a bit of back and forth between Louis and Naughty Boy, Zayn stepped in. To Louis, he replied, "Remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?"

In a follow-up tweet, he said, "Don't know why I'm being attacked for defending myself, people got it twisted! I love my fans?! Every single one of you."

6.THE CONTEXT: Before Bella Thorne and Tyler Posey's breakup became public, pictures of her spending time with Charlie Puth in Miami spread online, sparking cheating rumors.

THE COMMENT: In response, Charlie tweeted, "I can't believe what I'm reading. No one should have their heart messed with like this, and I'm not going to be in the middle of it."

He continued, "I don't know Tyler personally, but I know he shouldn't be treated this way. She told me she was not with him anymore. This is all news to me."

THE COMEBACK: Addressing the rumors, Bella tweeted, "Ty and I have been broken up for like over two weeks, and Charlie and I AREN'T DATING. We are friends. That article was written forever ago."

She told SiriusXM’s The Jenny McCarthy Show, "Basically, Ty and I stopped dating and Charlie had been tweeting about me for a while...I hung out with him twice...[Then] Charlie saw an old news article, and he didn't look at the date, and the date is old, and it's about me and Ty."

She continued, "In Charlie's defense, when he read it, not reading the date, it sounded like it was about me and Ty still being together. He didn't even text me or talk to me about it."

7.THE CONTEXT: Lamenting the lack of nominations "Anaconda" received for the 2015 VMAs, Nicki Minaj tweeted that Video of the Year nominations were guaranteed for a video that "celebrates women with very slim bodies."

THE COMMENT: Interpreting it as a dig at "Bad Blood," Taylor Swift replied, "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."

THE COMEBACK: Nicki replied, "Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this. [sic]" She also clarified that she was referencing racism in the media and the music industry.

Taylor apologized, tweeting, "I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki."

Not only did Nicki accept Taylor's apology, but she also brought Taylor onstage during her VMAs performance.

8.THE CONTEXT: Calvin Harris and Rita Ora dated for about a year before he dumped her publicly in a tweet.

THE COMMENT: In 2014, Calvin tweeted, "To address speculation — myself and Rita ended our relationship some time ago. She is a beautiful, talented woman & I wish her all the best."

THE COMEBACK: Discussing the way their musical collaboration caused strife in their relationship, Rita told Marie Claire, "I thought he had my back and that he'd never steer me wrong. But then 'I Will Never Let You Down' came out, and everything started to go a bit weird. I don't know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what."

She also said, "There was a reason why I split up with him. And there was a reason why I'm at this point in my life where I feel like I have so much musical freedom, and I don't have to explain myself to anybody…It was more of a thing where I was in awe. I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong."

9.THE CONTEXT: In a 2018 interview with USA Today, Natalie Portman criticized the media's toxic and paradoxical expectations for women in the '00s, and she said that, as a teen, she was "confused" by "Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying 'I'm a virgin' while wearing a bikini."

THE COMMENT: On Instagram, Jessica called her out, writing, "As public figures, we both know our image is not totally in our control at all times, and that the industry we work in often tries to define us and box us in."

She continued, "I have made it my practice to not shame other women for their choices. In this era of Time's Up and all the great work you have done for women, I encourage you to do the same."

THE COMEBACK: Clarifying that she'd meant to criticize the magazine rather than Jessica herself, Natalie commented, "Thank you for your words. I completely agree with you that a woman should be allowed to dress however she likes and behave however she likes and not be judged. I only meant to say I was confused — as a girl coming of age in the public eye around the same time — by the media's mixed messages about how girls and women were supposed to behave."

She continued, "I didn't mean to shame you and I'm sorry for any hurt my words may have caused. I have nothing but respect for your talent and your voice that you use to encourage and empower women all over the globe."

10.THE CONTEXT: After announcing her separation from Brody Jenner in 2019, Kaitlynn Carter went on vacation with friends, including Miley Cyrus. A few days into the trip, Miley announced her separation from Liam Hemsworth, and in less than an hour, paparazzi pictures of Kaitlyn and Miley appearing to kiss began spreading online.

THE COMMENT: A few hours later, Brody seemingly alluded to the situation with a vague Instagram caption, and his The Hills costar Brandon Lee commented, "Let’s round this scandal out and post a pic of us making out." Then Brody replied, "Watch out! Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon!"

THE COMEBACK: Referencing a scene from The Hills: New Beginnings where Brody slept in his car after arguing with Kaitlyn, Miley commented, "Go take a nap in your truck and cool off. #HotGirlSummer."

11.THE CONTEXT: Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan briefly dated in 2018 before having a very public breakup that played out over their Instagram stories.

THE COMMENT: On his story, Lil Xan posted, "I feel like I'm probably being cheated on. Bad things always happen to the good guys..." He then accused Noah of "using" him.

THE COMEBACK: On her story, Noah alleged that Lil Xan broke up with her over a photoshopped meme of Charlie Puth that she sent him. She said, "I'm heartbroken and confused. [This meme] made him think I'm cheating on him."

In a live stream, she said, "If you're in a relationship, never let a man make you feel like you're less of yourself — or you're the problem — when you were the one that sat around being there for somebody."

However, she then deleted those posts and made new ones, alleging that Lil Xan was actually the one cheating on her.

Then, he denied dumping her over the meme and said he ended their relationship because she was "all over some other dude" and then shared a picture she'd taken with a guy friend.

12.THE CONTEXT: In 2019, a viral video showed Bow Wow making disparaging comments about his ex Ciara during a club appearance. Discussing the video on her talk show, Wendy Williams said, "It's very distasteful. We've all had someone before…To be shirtless in a club and calling her a bitch, you were so wrong for that."

THE COMMENT: A week later, Bow Wow tweeted a picture of Wendy wearing a bikini. He captioned it, "They say it's a hot girl summer" and added several emojis to indicate he was mocking her appearance.

THE COMEBACK: Seeming to allude to his post on her show, she said, "Please refrain from your body shame. You don't have to like it, but someone does."

13.THE CONTEXT: In 2013, fans theorized that Adam Levine decided, out of the blue, to criticize Lady Gaga's "Art Pop" music video, which features several famous artworks.

THE COMMENT: Adam tweeted, "Ugh..recycling old art for a younger generation doesn't make you an artist. It makes you an art teacher."

He continued, "I unabashedly love writing and performing pop music for both myself AND everyone around me. That's it. It doesn't need any extra sauce."

THE COMEBACK: In response, Lady Gaga tweeted, "Uh oh guys the art police is here."

A few days later, Adam tweeted, "By the way, im NOT an artist. i sing in a band and i make music with my friends...while we're at it we should call the grammar police. [sic]"

14.And finally, THE CONTEXT: While Charli D'Amelio and Chase Hudson were dating, there were rumors he cheated on her with Nessa Barrett. After their breakup in 2020, a bunch of their fellow TikTokers unfollowed Chase on Twitter. Charli posted and deleted, "I hope she was worth it."

THE COMMENT: In a since-deleted tweet, Chase said "All of this drama going on because I kissed Nessa when we were both single."

THE COMEBACK: In another tweet she later deleted, Charli quoted his post and added, "Then you shouldn't have come to my house after without telling me."

In response, Chase said, in since-deleted tweets, "Since all my drama has to be put on the internet for the world to judge me, let's lay out everyone else's." He then detailed a bunch of alleged relationship drama amongst their group of TikTok friends.

Charli replied, "Stop deflecting your actions onto others because you can't take responsibility, Chase. Want me to talk about how you treated me throughout our relationship or do you just want to continue to play the victim?"
