Gravity Blankets sent me their popular weighted blanket to test out, and it didn’t take me long to love that warm, cozy feeling when I’m under one (it feels just like a hug!). At 15 pounds, it’s the perfect amount of weight—I do think the pressure really does help me to relax and calm down, and I’m super grateful to have one now for those days and moments when I’m anxious or stressed and can’t get to sleep. My feet are terrible for all kinds of reasons, starting with genetics and ending in poor choices in footwear on my part. What really helps after a long day of existing with these feet is my Toe Spacer Rock Mat, which is basically a small floor mat with smallish rocks (the size you’d find on a New England beach) molded into the firm foam. I stand on it barefoot in the morning and at night as I brush my teeth and it is like a warm-up and mini-massage. “Firm foam applies pressure to specific parts of the sole of the foot and releases tension,” the company claims, and it feels true to me. I also do balance poses on it, because it adds a little challenge, which strengthens the muscles of the foot and ankle. It’s available in so many different shades, but I’ve been loving “Adore,” which is the perfect light mauve-pink.
