Pierce Brosnan has always been an attractive man, but no one expected him to be the highlight of a modern superhero film. He stole the show as Doctor Fate/Kent Nelson in Black Adam , leaving fans thirsting for more of his character. Frank Masi / © Warner Bros. / Courtesy Everett Collection
Though no upcoming DCEU projects include a second dose of Dr. Fate (yet), here are 14 other Pierce Brosnan films you can watch to quench the thirst. 1. Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)The everlasting impact of Mrs. Doubtfire will always be attributed to the late Robin Williams's iconic performance. He undoubtedly carried the film as Daniel Hillard, who transformed into the titular character to spend more time with his children. However, Pierce Brosnan proved to be solid competition for him as Stuart “Stu” Dunmeyer, the new man that Daniel's ex-wife was seeing.
20th Century Fox 2. GoldenEye (1995)Look...every Pierce Brosnan James Bond film will be on this list, regardless of quality. Why? Because he's one of the most beloved Bond actors of all time, so his run as 007 is required viewing. GoldenEye is generally referred to as the best (and most iconic) of his four films in the franchise.
MGM/United International Pictures 3. Mars Attacks! (1996)This Tim Burton-directed sci-fi comedy stars numerous Hollywood icons. Jack Nicholson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Annette Bening, Glenn Close, Danny DeVito, and countless others all brought this wonky alien invasion film to life. In the midst of it all is a handsome Pierce Brosnan as Professor Donald Kessler.
Warner Bros. 4. Dante's Peak (1997)Brosnan took the lead in Dante's Peak as Harry Dalton, a volcanologist who discovers that the titular long-dormant volcano might wake up at any given moment. He stars opposite Terminator legend Linda Hamilton in this action-adventure thrill ride.
Universal Pictures 5. Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)Pierce Brosnan was just as swoon-worthy in his second James Bond outing as he was in GoldenEye . His appeal as 007 was always undeniable (hence, the aforementioned "required viewing").
MGM/United International Pictures 6. The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)In this remake of a 1968 film by the same name, Brosnan follows in the footsteps of Steve McQueen as the (hot) billionaire art thief Thomas Crown. This is considered one of Brosnan's best performances, making his arrogant character utterly charming in a way that only he (and McQueen) could.
MGM 7. The World Is Not Enough (1999)Thus, we have Brosnan Bond film number three. This was yet another confirmation that the Irish actor was born to be 007. It's also worth noting that the incomparable Dame Judi Dench accompanied him throughout all three films as M — a role she would continue to play until 2012.
MGM/United International Pictures 8. Evelyn (2002)Evelyn was a welcome change of pace in the midst of Brosnan's late-'90s filmography. Based on a true story, this Irish drama centered on a father's fight to regain custody of his children. Though his underemployed, drunken ways gave him little hope of getting his children back, he slowly reformed his life to take his case back to court.
Pathé Distribution 9. Die Another Day (2002)Die Another Day was the fourth and final film in Brosnan's 007 saga, leaving the role to Daniel Craig in future installments. His final outing as the spy also starred the likes of Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike.
MGM/20th Century Fox 10. The Matador (2005)A globetrotting hitman and a disheartened businessman walk into a bar...
This dark comedy about their encounter in Mexico City leads to an adventure starring an unlikely duo. Brosnan stars as professional killer Julian Noble, and Greg Kinnear plays the discouraged businessman, Danny Wright.
The Weinstein Company 11. Mamma Mia! (2008)Pierce Brosnan brought true daddy vibes to the comedy-musical Mamma Mia! as one of three potential fathers of Donna's daughter, Sophie. While he's not the...best ...vocalist, his acting more than makes up for his awkward singing scenes. Plus, the film smashed all box office expectations and reignited everyone's love for ABBA's music.
Universal Pictures 12. Love Is All You Need (2012)Philip (Brosnan) is a lonely widower Englishman living in Denmark. Ida (Trine Dyrholm) is a Danish hairdresser who was cheated on by her husband. When their paths intertwine, they embark on a trip to attend the wedding of Patrick and Astrid, who happen to be Philip’s son and Ida’s daughter, respectively.
Sony Pictures Classics 13. A Long Way Down (2014)Four strangers meet on New Year's Eve under bizarre circumstances; all of them intend to end their lives. Instead, they form a surrogate family to help each other with the troubles that plague them. Brosnan aside, the film also stars Toni Collette, Aaron Paul, and Imogen Poots.
Lionsgate 14. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018)As is the case with most box office smashes, Mamma Mia! received a sequel. Naturally, Pierce Brosnan reprised his role as the handsome Sam. In this film, Sophie dives into her mother's past (with more ABBA music!).
