Martin also recommends a refresh every couple of months. “I love bringing in seasonal touches: more cocooning blankets, pillows, and candles in the winter; flowers throughout the spring and summer, depending on what’s in bloom,” she says. “Something that the Italians do that I love—they change their wardrobes out seasonally. I even have a kind of spring wardrobe for my bed. It’s a beautiful ritual that keeps the house tidier and really adds a sense of ceremony to the season’s change.”
