14 Hilarious Scenes From Horror Movies That No One Was Remotely Prepared For

Some of my favorite horror movies are the ones that are also very funny (whether they're supposed to be or not).

MTV / Via giphy.com

What can I say, I love to laugh.

Here are some of the horror movie moments that always crack me up, no matter how many times I watch them:

1.The "Fucking hand sanitizer?!" scene in the new Scream

amber in scream 5

I love Mikey Madison in Scream and her delivery of this line is hilarious. 10/10, no notes.

Paramount Pictures

Here's the full scene (the line comes up at about the 1:30 mark):

2.Samuel L. Jackson being eaten by a shark in Deep Blue Sea

Samuel L. Jackson talking to the rest of the crew and telling them that they are going to pull together and find a way to get out of here

Punctuating Russell's big, dramatic, inspiring speech with one of the sharks popping up and eating him is perfect comedic timing. I honestly don't know if it's supposed to be funny or not, but it kills me (so to speak) every time I watch it.

Warner Bros.

Here's the full scene:

3.Jason Voorhees being telekinetically attacked with a couch in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood

jason voorhees

The fact that the protagonist in the seventh Friday the 13th movie has telekinesis will never not be funny, and her using her mind to throw a whole-ass couch at Jason is the icing on the cake.

Paramount Pictures

Here's the full scene (go to 1:20 for the airborne couch):

4.Taking out the garbage in Silent Night, Deadly Night 2

ricky saying garbage day in silent night deadly night 2

Despite it being roughly the same age as I am, I managed to miss the iconic "GARBAGE DAY" line from this movie until I watched it last year. As far as I'm concerned, Eric Freeman deserved an award for that line delivery alone. What award, I do not know, but an award.

5.The "NOT THE BEES" scene in the 2006 Wicker Man remake

nicolas cage saying not the bees in wicker man

I think this one speaks for itself.

Warner Bros.

6.The end of The Mist

7.Half the deaths in Blood Rage

half a person in blood rage

If you haven't watched this movie about an evil twin escaping a psychiatric hospital and killing all his brothers' friends, you need to. At one point someone gets cut in half and both halves keep moving around for like 15 seconds.

Film Limited

Here are all the deaths from the movie (the one mentioned above begins at around the 1:15 mark):

8.Ms. Lewton's death in Final Destination

9.And Brian's death in Final Destination 2

10.When Jamie gets chased by bullies in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

jamie in halloween 4

Jamie's classmates screaming "JAMIE'S AN ORPHAN" at her over and over is giving Angela from Stranger Things — it's so ridiculous and over-the-top you have to laugh.

11.The Gabriel reveal in Malignant

prisoner from malignant

On top of being absolutely batshit, the prison fight scene, intercut with the surgery footage and flashbacks, is peak comedy — specifically the prisoners' reactions to the appearance of Gabriel. The one with the blonde mullet is the MVP of the whole movie.

Warner Bros.

Here's the full scene:

12.The "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" scene in I Know What You Did Last Summer

jennifer love hewitt yelling what are you waiting for in i know what you did last summer

This is one of those scenes that didn't register as funny to me as a kid, but as an adult, it cracks me up every time I watch it. It's just so dramatic! There's a reason it was spoofed in Scary Movie.

Columbia Pictures

13.The blender scene in You're Next

guy being killed with a blender in you're next

You're Next is one of my favorite examples of ~well-blended~ horror and comedy, and the death-by-blender scene is just one of its many gruesome yet hilarious moments.

14.Bradley Whitford being eaten by the merman in Cabin in the Woods

bradley whitford saying oh come on in cabin in the woods

This movie is full of (intentionally) funny moments, but for me, nothing beats watching Bradley Whitford finally getting to see the merman — only to be eaten by the damn thing (which happens to be absolutely hideous).

Here's the full scene (the merman makes his appearance at around the 2:10 mark):
