People Are Calling Out TV Characters Who Couldn't Have Really Afforded Their Lifestyles

Have you ever settled down to enjoy a few nice and relaxing episodes of television only to find yourself getting super distracted by a character's wildly unrealistic finances? Because, same.

So I asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to share which TV characters they're certain couldn't afford their lifestyles. Here's what they had to say:

."I love Glee, but how did Kurt, Rachel, and Santana afford to live in a giant apartment and be able to go back to Lima whenever they wanted? They were waiters at a diner and had occasional acting jobs. Kurt and Rachel also went to NYADA, so they couldn’t even work at the Spotlight Diner full time."

."The original cast of Charmed. Always complained about being broke while driving BMWs to their multimillion-dollar San Francisco mansion."

."Jess from New Girl. She is a fairly new teacher, so she doesn’t make a ton of money. So when I saw that she was living in a huge apartment in Los Angeles, I was a little confused."

."Nothing against Rachel Green being a waitress, but after cutting up her dad's credit card, would she really be able to pay rent, get that flawless hairstyle maintained, and still afford the latest fashions constantly? Not so sure."

."Amber Holt from Parenthood. She moved out of her grandparents house at 18, into a loft in San Francisco, while only working at a coffee shop and then as an assistant at a music studio. How?! And she had to buy ALL of the appliances! Her loft was modern too. I yelled at the screen, 'How the literal fuck?' when I first saw the episode where she moved in."

."The Griffin family from Family Guy. Only one person in that family has a regular job (Peter at the brewery), and even that’s presumably not the best paid."

."Tim Taylor from Home Improvement. He had a local cable access show and yet somehow could afford a nice house, an expensive car-rebuilding hobby, AND support a family of five on that salary alone?"

."Penny from The Big Bang Theory. She had a good apartment in a pretty nice building on a waitress’s earnings. Sheldon and Leonard lived across the hall, and they were both renowned physicists."

."Cosmo Kramer. Even if it was a rent-controlled apartment, he had no steady source of income but always had money to support his antics."

."Hannah Horvath on Girls. She literally got cut off from her parents and had only a few jobs throughout the show that definitely wouldn't have been able to pay for a two-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn."

."A from Pretty Little Liars. Where did she find the money to construct a dollhouse that had bedrooms that were exact replicas of the liars? Not to mention the intense and complicated equipment that she used to torture them."

."Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. Lorelai wasn't able to pay for Chilton, but she can afford to go to Luke's and have takeout every day?"

.And finally, "Carrie Bradshaw. Her entire life was nonsensical. Writing stories for a column, spending all her money on ugly Manolos and tacky clothes...ma'am...no."
