12 (Dietitian-Approved) Healthy Frozen Pizzas That Taste Just As Good As Homemade Pies

Upgrade your pizza night with these nutrient-rich options.

Frozen pizzas are a busy weekday night lifesaver—especially if you have kids. It’s a notorious crowd-pleaser and takes almost zero effort to make. As with other types of foods, not all frozen pizzas are created equal—both in terms of taste and nutrition. There’s a wide range to choose from; some are healthy options, some not so much.

Registered dietitian Sonya Angelone, RD, offers up some general tips to keep in mind when shopping for a healthy frozen pizza to ensure you’re getting the most nutrient-rich option possible. First, check out the crust. Angelone says that thin, whole grain or cauliflower are all going to be healthier choices than thick crust or cheese-stuffed.

Next, look at the toppings. Angelone says the more veggies there are the better. A pizza topped with veggies means you’ll be getting great fiber with your meal. In general, she says to skip meat-topped pizzas, which can be higher in sodium and saturated fat. Angelone adds that cheese can also up the sodium and saturated fat, so be sure to check out the nutritional panel on any frozen pizza with cheese.

There is no shortage of frozen pizza options that check off all the boxes Angelone says to think about. Want proof? The 12 rounded up here are all healthy options you’re likely to find at any supermarket near you, Whole Foods or on Amazon. If they're currently unavailable online, be sure to check your local grocery store shelves!
