I’m guessing you’re here for one of three reasons. You (a) want to make sure your future bb has a cool name so they don’t get beaten up on the playground (kiiidding), (b) want to avoid accidentally giving your kid the trendiest name of the year (or do you?), or (c) are just genuinely curious to know what the heck people are naming their babies these days.

Whatever has brought you here, welcome! Picking an Official Title for your kid is a serious undertaking. Like anything else, names come in and out of fashion, and there’s no exact science to explain why certain trends (for example, girl names that start with a vowel) gain popularity at any given time. (Well, it was pretty clear the spike in babies called Edward was a direct result of Twilight, but I digress.) It’s also tough to pick a unique baby name when people have been naming their offspring for literally thousands of years. So all you can do is your homework (as in, read this article, no tests will be given) and go with your gut. There’s no such thing as a bad name—people are even choosing names inspired by their favorite food these days! Here are more than 100 of the most popular baby names of 2020.

And psst: If you’re struggling to think of a middle name for your baby girl or baby boy, we’ve got ya there too.
