10 Sci-Fi Shows Every ‘Manifest’ Fan Will Love

The fact that Manifest claimed the top spot on Netflix just a day after its cancellation says quite a lot about its dedicated fanbase.

The sci-fi drama, which follows a group of airplane passengers who land five years in the future after boarding a flight from Jamaica, was canceled after just three seasons—and fans are not happy. Still, it looks like there’s hope for the show’s return, because according to Deadline, both NBC and Netflix are in talks about a possible renewal. Not to mention, hundreds of people are campaigning online to #saveManifest.

1. ‘FlashForward’

Who’s in it? Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton

What’s it about? What would happen if everyone on the planet caught a glimpse of themselves six months in the future? This series tackles the question in such a fascinating way, and like Manifest, it expertly balances sci-fi and suspense with drama. When a mysterious event causes nearly everyone to simultaneously black out and see their future for two minutes, an elite team of FBI agents try to investigate what really happened.

2. ‘Lost’

Who’s in it? Naveen Andrews, Emilie de Ravin, Matthew Fox, Jorge Garcia, Maggie Grace

What’s it about? Many have dubbed Manifest the new version of Lost, and for good reason. Both shows have supernatural elements, are character driven and start off with a mysterious airplane incident. But in this case, we follow a group of passengers who are stuck on a mysterious island after a plane crash.

What’s it about? Lost meets The Twilight Zone in this compelling sci-fi series, which follows the fictional Fringe Division of the FBI as they investigate a number of mysterious occurrences connected to a parallel world.

4. ‘Dark’

Who’s in it? Louis Hofmann, Oliver Masucci, Julika Jenkins

What’s it about? It’ll start off giving you Stranger Things vibes, since it centers on the aftermath of a child's mysterious disappearance. However, the series is much darker and more complex than you’d expect. Though the overall tone is very different compared to Manifest, it involves time travel and packs a lot of tension and mystery.

What’s it about? Inspired by the French film They Came Back, this series follows a number of dead residents of a small-town who mysteriously come back to life and try to resume living as if nothing happened. What could possibly go wrong?

6. ‘Into the Night’

Who’s in it? Jan Bijvoet, Nabil Mallat, Pauline Etienne, Laurent Capelluto

What’s it about? One can argue that this series isn't a lot like Manifest, but it does involve a fascinating, plane-related mystery that'll have you feeling both confused and mildly intrigued. A group of passengers on a hijacked plane discover that their only chance of survival is staying on board and avoiding the sun’s fatal rays.

What’s it about? Exactly 4,400 people magically reappear on Earth after vanishing for years with no explanation. None of them have aged and, apparently, they’ve all gained mysterious new powers. Where do they go from here?

What’s it about? Based on Tom Perrotta's book of the same name, The Leftovers explores the fallout of the sudden disappearance of 140 million people around the globe. If you're partial to thought-provoking mysteries that touch on deeper issues like religion and sexuality, then this show is right up your alley.
