Sometimes, couples just fit. Their styles complement each other instinctively...and other times, they look like they've come from different sides of the universe. Here are a few celeb pairings — from Blake and Gwen to Zoe and Channing. Universal Pictures / giphy.com
Let's start out with celebs with the same aesthetic: 1. Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey This couple is *chefs kiss*. Their styles complement each other, and they always look so incredible together. Even when it's just a random Thursday dinner date, Michael goes for the classic looks while Lori likes to try out different trends — but it always works.
John Shearer / Getty Images 2. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker At the start of the relationship, it seemed like these two couldn't be more different. But! As time has shown, they're a match made in punk rock heaven.
Jeff Bottari / Zuffa LLC / Getty Images 3. Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler This relatively new duo is totally on the same style page even though they just got together. It might be that they both have a classic laidback look, but aesthetically, it's truly a match.
RMBI / BACKGRID 4. Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum This unusual couple has been showing up lately. Their seasonally appropriate style is top-notch and definitely complements each other! Zoe's outfits always have such a cool effortless feel, and it seems like Channing is right there with her.
James Devaney / GC Images 5. Beyonce and Jay-Z A) They are iconic. B) Have you ever seen a couple this stylish and cool? C) Why am I even talking about this? We all know they're top-notch on the cool scale. Nothing else matters.
James Devaney / Getty Images 6. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka These two are both classy guys and totally fit together on an aesthetic level. Like, they've been together for ages and complete each other style-wise.
Bruce Glikas / Bruce Glikas / Getty Images 7. Jeff Goldblum and Emilie Livingston The actor and his retired Olympic rhythmic gymnast wife always look oh so fierce. They go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Patrick T. Fallon / AFP via Getty Images 8. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds They're cute. They complement each other. You know it. I know it. That's all. Ryan is a funny dude, and Blake steals the show. Together, they're unstoppable. Also, their 'lil fam is so sweet it melts my heart.
Noam Galai / Getty Images for Netflix 9. Adele and Rich Paul They're calm. They're collected. They're oh so cool. The belting beauty and her sports agent beau are a 10/10 couple aesthetically. Just look at 'em!
Kevin Mazur / Getty Images 10. Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn This super private couple have matching aesthetics — though we barely get to see them together. The few times they've been photographed at events, their aesthetics seem to just mesh.
Robert Kamau / GC Images These couples don't match... Disclaimer: I'm not saying they aren't great together! This is purely on an aesthetic level. It's about the vibes, you know?
11. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban They're both native Aussies, but Nicole is just so darn elegant, and Keith feels like this fun-loving surfer guy. That's not to say I don't think they're perfect together, but the vibes don't add up collectively.
Rees, Siny / Spartano / BACKGRID 12. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Sure, they're good together on a personal level, but their aesthetics couldn't be more different. Gwen is glam to the max and a megastar singer while Blake sticks to his country roots.
Rall / Image Press / BACKGRID 13. J.Lo and Ben Affleck Yes, these two were engaged back in the day, but how did the Dunkin' Donuts-loving Boston native fall back into love with the super sleek red carpet diva? It does seem like Ben is stepping up his style nowadays, but I'll never get over those beach pictures...
Bellocqimages / GC Images 14. Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson This was not on my 2022 bingo card. The reality star and the SNL funnyman are such an out-of-left-field pairing from Kim's high fashion looks and Pete's dressed down style — we're left scratching our heads as to how these two go together. And yet, it's obvious that they like each other! Their aesthetics are just so different.
Sann / BACKGRID 15. Zendaya and Tom Holland Hear me out first — you can't deny their sweetness. I mean, it's a truly classic fall-in-love-on-set after years of friendship fairytale, but Zendaya is just so iconic, and Tom is a nice English lad. They fit; they do, but their aesthetics aren't aligned, IMO.
Karwai Tang / WireImage 16. Rita Ora and Taika Waititi The singer and her director beau sure look loved up on social media, but how did they even meet? I'm not saying they aren't a cool couple, but it's just so unexpected! Rita is more known for her glam IG shots and Taiki (AKA Taika David Cohen) is off always directing big-budget films. Can you see them together IRL? They do look glamorous on the red carpet, but they just give off different vibes. See above for proof.
Future Publishing / Future Publishing via Getty Images 17. Olivia Munn and John Mulaney How did this funny man charm this sophisticated leading lady? They do seem happy, having just welcomed a baby, but can you see them together? Does it work aesthetically? I say meh.
John Shearer / Getty Images for The Hollywood Reporter 18. Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers A naturalist actress and an NFL star? How do their aesthetics mix? It's a bit of an odd pairing style-wise for this on-again-off-again couple, and yet they were briefly engaged. Woodley has previously said her religion is the Earth and trees. Does Aaron agree?
Amco / BACKGRID 19. Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher Cohen is funny, and Isla is supremely talented, but their aesthetics are so different. Yes, they look good together on the red carpet, but every time I see them, I can't help but wonder how their styles mesh!
Pool / Getty Images 20. Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde The solo singer and movie director have been together for a bit, and engagement rumors are swirling, but does the feather boa truly fit? Styles goes all out with his outfits (in terms of performance, I do concede that his off-duty looks are more laidback), and Wilde is fierce, yes, but do their aesthetics work together? That's the big question here.
