In US news and current events today, violence erupted at the Louisville protests as protesters calling for Justice for Breonna Taylor were met with a hail of gunfire that resulted in one man dead. 27-year-old Tyler Gerth was shot and killed by gunman Steven Lopez, who had participated in the Louisville protests and Black Lives Matter protests until a disagreement with fellow protesters. This Jefferson Square Park shooting isn't the first protest shooting witnessed by the Black Lives Matter protests that arose after the police killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless other Black Americans, but it's a horrific reminded of the courage protesters must have to fight for justice. The Black Lives Matter shooting of Louisville Kentucky is a grim reminder that there are those who would do violence to protect the status quo.
