Warren on Clinton’s nomination: ‘You have to stop and take a deep breath’

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., told Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric that Donald Trump is “really thin-skinned” and that “he’s a guy who inherited a fortune and expanded it by cheating people.”

Warren reflected on attending a convention at which a major political party nominated a woman for the first time. “You have to stop and take a deep breath,” she said. “It puts me in the mind of my own mother and grandmother.” Warren, who spoke on Monday night, also described bringing her daughter and granddaughter to the convention to witness the historic moment.

On the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which President Obama supports but Warren opposes, Warren said Gov. Terry McAuliffe, D-Va., “stuck his foot in his mouth and bit down hard” when he suggested that Hillary Clinton might reverse herself and support the TPP if she is elected. Warren asked, “Are we just going to cut deals that help giant multinational companies?” and said that Clinton “has been very clear” that she will not support the TPP.

Warren also refused to say that Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., was the “right pick” for Clinton’s running mate. She did say that Clinton picked the person who can best serve her on the campaign and in the White House.
