Cleveland entrepreneur makes recording music on the go easy with Studio Stick
The city of Cleveland is having a major comeback.
After hosting the Republican National Convention and winning an NBA championship in 2016, many residents who fled the “mistake by the lake” are now returning with great pride for their city.
Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric visited Cleveland for her series “Cities Rising: Rebuilding America” and spoke to some of the people and organizations helping to bring the city back.
JumpStart is a nonprofit that invests in and coaches young entrepreneurs.
The organization helped Brandyn Armstrong launch Studio Stick, the world’s first portable recording studio for smartphones.
“Where I’m from, a lot of us really don’t have a lot of money growing up. We have to save up for studio time, we’re not really able to capture our creative ideas that moment when we’re inspired,” Armstrong said. “So that’s what gave me the idea to create Studio Stick.”
In conjunction with a mobile application, the device can record any type of music or high quality audio from anywhere on the go.
“JumpStart gave me a lot of education about entrepreneurship,” Armstrong said. “They gave me a lot of connections to many important people in the city who could help me take this product to another level.”
